Problem with data connection.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S4. In my house and my in laws house I do not have data connection. I "miss" calls but don't have a miss call icon, only a voicemail. I can't make calls and when I am able to answer a call I cannot complete the call correctly. I have tried removing my SIM card, restarting the phone, etc. My in laws have iPhones and don't have issues. My wife has the Samsung Galaxy S3 and has the same issues. This morning she took a call and had to advise the individual she could not understand them and to call back and leave a message. This is highly inconvenient. Please advise on some options to correct this. Thanks!

Kjorain we'll pinpoint the issue and do everything we can to help! Indoor service can be tricky since the material of the building often interferes with the connectivity. I recommend our network extenders http://vz.to/IHRT6h to help boost the service inside your home.

Kjorain,

We certainly want you to have the best experience with your devices on our network. When did this start? What zipcode are you in? Do you get signal when you are outside of your home?

Hi Sandy,

Thank you for assisting me and responding. The issue has been occurring for a few months, could be longer. The inconvenience has just been growing and now is too much. Both my wife and I have the problem. She has the Samsung Galaxy S3 and I have the S4. Our zip code is 85209. We get excellent signal outside our house. Even today I had 5 bars of signal strength not even a quarter of a mile down the street from my house and my in laws (where we notice the issues most).

Thanks,

Keith Carroll

Hello Ashley,

Thank you for the response. It seems outrageous to me that Verizon is asking me to spend over $200 so I can use the service I already pay for. There must be other options. I give Verizon almost $200 a month so I can utilize their service. What other options are there? I am afraid if there are no other viable options I will need to start checking other service providers to see if the connectivity is improved.

Thank you,

Keith Carroll

Kjorain,

I had the same problem with a weak signal in my home.  I'm between VZW towers  I got the Network Extender and was able to negotiate the price down.  The extender does work, but there are a couple of things you need to know about it.  It only provides 3G service and it uses the Internet and requires at least 1Mbs of upload speed.  I had to increase my wi-fi speed to get the extender to work.  It also requires a GPS connection.

I understand your concern, Kjorain. We certainly don't want to see you considering leaving us. I reviewed your original post and would like to clarify a few things to make sure we go down the best path together. You indicated your in-laws have iPhones but don't have the same troubles that you and your wife experience. Are those iPhones with Verizon Wireless? When you or your wife exit those two homes, are you able to pick up signal by the time you reach the street? Since both of you have Galaxy phones, are you using Galaxy S-View cases by chance?

Hello Jennifer,

I apologize about the late response. Yes their iPhones are with Verizon. I understand they have different components so it's hard to compare. Typically we have to take a call outside either my home or my wife's parents home in order to complete the call. I am using an Otterbox and I don't believe she has that case.

Thanks,

Kjorain,

Great information! Can we try removing the case from the phone to see if there is any difference? How many bars of signal do you normally get inside the house and how many do you get if you go outside? Is it better in certain areas of the home?

Hello Andrew,

Thank you for the assistance. I've removed the cases and they have had no effect. Typically outside, which is where I have to go to make a call, I get 2-5 more bars. Both my wife and I received a phone call today and both calls dropped while indoors at her parents. It's really frustrating that our service doesn't allow us to take calls. I am not sure what else to do. Are there settings to adjust? Perhaps we don't have our settings set up properly?

Thanks for those details Kjorain! I understand that calls have dropped while inside your wife's parents, this can be associated with structural interference. Do you experience same issues while outside the home?

Hello Antonio,

Thank you for your response and assistance. No, I do not have any examples to give you while in or near a major town or city. Thank you!

Hello, I never received a response. Others have stated that a network extender would work, however, I do not like the idea of having to pay for a service to use a service I pay for. I have friends, etc., that have other service providers and don't have issues with getting connection inside houses. Ashley, in response to your reply I do get service outside of my home. Is there a setting with my phone or antenna that may be causing issue? I find this highly unlikely since my wife has the same issue with her phone.
