Are they really selling fascinates at a $100 with froyo and say they cant do an efn thing for their current customers....
looks like someone made a typo.
See... Yet another rep that is feeding **bleep** then. His exact words... " yes it does have 2.2. Some of the new units are coming with 2.2 pre- loaded"
Looks like someone up to their old tricks again.
Interesting, very interesting. The way I feel about the froyo update now is.. If it happens it happens. Yeah it sucks that it hasn't happened yet, but it is wasting time and energy stressing over it. The lesson to be learned from this is... buyer beware in the future....
Where did you take pic at
Thanks
Just goes to prove all Verizon cares about is signing new Contracts
That was circulated around last year on another forums site. It was determined to be a typo.
Apparently this image is newer though. In the bottom right, it looks like it says "Valid 2/27-3/26"
Not so sure about that look at the dates
2/26 - 3/27
The phone was not out last year at that time.
I think this is differant that is why i asked about when the picture was took or where.

It's coming but nobody seems to know when.
If you read the small print in the bottom of the tag in the photograph you'll notice the wording, "...depending on carrier..." describing the potential early termination fee. What this means is that this picture is taken in a store that is owned and operated by John Doe Businessguy that is operating a store that sells equipment for multiple carriers. They make their own rules, their own tags, and get their info from their own sources. This unfortunately hurts both the customer and the carrier for which the store owner is selling contracts.
So long story short, this store owner that represents MANY carriers found the latest info on the Galaxy S line of phones, saw that the line in general was up to 2.2 and chose to advertise this generalization rather than confirming with his counterpart at VZW. Every store, no matter who owns it, has a person at each carrier that is solely responsible for all business being done on behalf of that carrier by any non-carrier owned stores stores in that region. It is sad since everybody sees the name on the tag and assumes that the carrier is behind it. Also sad because if the the carrier is allowing this store owner to sell contracts on its behalf, then it is their duty to keep them informed, up to date, and provide appropriate literature on the products offered or pull their contract rights from that store. This same sort of thing happened for the carrier that I used to work for all the time; and on more than one occasion, that carrier did the correct thing and told the non-carrier store owner to go take a hike.
Its a two way street. Store owner's fault for not confirming the info on the Galaxy S line of phones for ALL the carriers that he sells for and the carrier's fault for not keeping his/her area non-VZW stores up to date with correct info.
the reps in my local store are honest, and will not give false info, I asked them if/when my fascinate might get 2.2 (it already had it, though, lol), and they wouldn't mislead me. so, this is not verizon policy to mislead us, it's "rogue agents" as it were doing this.

Well, no. It's not a corporate policy, and every large business has some folks who are less than trustworthy. This doesn't change the fact that Verizon should be held responsible for the information it's reps hand out.
If VZW reps told people Froyo was due in 1-2 weeks, and it didn't come out (and still hasn't 3 months later), one of two things happened:
1) The rep spoke with no actual knowledge of the situation to make the sale or stall the return.
2) Verizon corporate told the rep the update was imminent, when it wasn't.
Either way, Verizon's fault.
they had no clue, in reality. trust me, this is the sales rep's fault, and only for lying to sell a product. nobody else's.
{please keep your posts courteous}they don't encourage misleading customers, and it isn't their responsibility to tell you when they plan on updating the phone. it's also a well known issue that froyo doesn't play well with cdma phones. they're trying to fix this before releasing it, as said in the press between verizon and samsung. since they don't know how long this will take, they are not giving a date.
{please keep your posts courteous}. Mr. Maple Leaf, why do you register under different names? Hmmm that's because your an Verizon employee.
hahahaha, you're bloody hilarious. I have one user name, and definitely do not work for verizon. I fix planes, cars, ect... not sell phones.
gsp10 wrote:dude stop making it sound like its okay that verizon hasn't sent out a out of date update yet I have no ideawhy you stand up for them so much! All I know is a rep for verizon lied to me about the update so that means verizon as a whole lied to me just like they did to everyone else.
I don't know why people are not realising there's a reason they aren't sending it out. I would much rather have them fix the problem before releasing the update. if you don't care about the problem, the faulty update is already out there waiting for you to download it.
believe me when I say it takes a considerable amout of effort to deliborately brick a fascinate. it's nearly impossible to do on accident.
yes, there is almost always a way to un brick it. xda developer forums and android central are the places those questions can be answered for you. this forum will not let me answer your questions any more than I already have.
