Happening for a while now.  I am using stock samsung message app.  I think this only happens to people who send me a text from an apple (not 100% certain).  it does not happen all the time but when it does.... OMG annoying.  anyone have a fix?  currently I have over 15 message from same person and a new one comes in every 5 to 10 minutes.  why?

other problems.

getting super hot.

freezes when I try to unlock (use my fingerprint)

making phone calls sometimes doesn't go through.

I hate apples, and brag about my samsung to everyone, but I have been very disappointed lately....

Thanks!!!

I get messages from people on Apple devices and I don't get double messages. Keep in mind that the next is an educated guess.

Check your accounts on  your phone. (Settings --> Accounts) Make sure you don't have two of the same account set up. (ie. two Facebook accounts but same ID) Not that this is necessarily related but it's something to check on. There are lots of apps out there that claim to give you free messaging or do something special with your messages. Some of those may be tying into your messaging app and doing weird things. Check to see if the duplicates are all coming from the same person. They may have you listed twice in a group message and just keep sending you multiple messages because they aren't paying attention. If you are using the Samsung messaging app, go in and Uninstall/Disable the Verizon one. If your phone is getting that hot it could be because you have multiple apps running in the background. I use the app All In One Toolbox to end all the apps that I'm not using and don't need to be running in the background. It's also a good place to see what actually IS running and even set it up so only certain apps run when you reboot the phone.

If you power down the phone, then hold down the up volume key and home button and while holding those buttons down power  up the device. You should get into a boot menu. From there you can wipe the cache partition and then reboot the phone. It doesn't always help but many problems have been solved.

Personally, when I have a bunch of odd problems with my phone. I do a full backup of all my data, do a factory reset, and then just use it for a few days with out restoring anything. Then I can tell if it's the phone or an app.

Hope that helps.
