Reception with Samsung SIII

Well its to late to return my phone. I wish I would have known about this blog first before purchasing this phone. I work from home I own my own business and rely on my cell phone for all my transactions. On a daily bases I pull my battery and or sim card in order for text messages to go through or reboot this sluggish phone. I have my first grandson that I also babysit for and take lots of pictures so my battery is drained fast. I was looking in adding additional mah for my phone however I noticed in some blogs that this makes your reception even worse...how much worse can it get I only get one bar at home. In order to make some of my business calls I have to go outside, and this is not conducive to my work in the medical field. Yes I know about the extender but I noticed that is also a hit and miss with the Samsung 3s. I think my only alternative is a land line. Is there a fix for this problem?

I'm having the same issues. We have a place on a lake and I drop calls constantly here. I've contacted Verizon and even though they told me before I switched from ATT that they had good coverage here, they now say it's a minimal coverage zone due to the terrain. Since I tend to be here alone it worries me not always having a signal. Funny thing is I have the Verizon Hot Spot and there is no problem with that; I get online easily and it works relatively fast, sometimes as well as my cable at home. That leads me to believe it's the phone that is the problem. I even downloaded a signal booster for Android from the play store. It did help slightly so you may want to try that.

I've been having issues since I got the phone. Several calls to VZW and no resolution. I was hoping today's update might have a fix but I don't see anything in the release notes. Might have to try AT&T next time I'm ready to upgrade. VZW service is horrible now.

Char21, thanks for posting. I would love to help resolve your issue. I can understand how important it is for you to use your phone for business. How long have you had reception issues? How many lines are on your account? Do all the lines have the same issues? Do you have issues with data services or just voice reception? Please give more details so I can further assist.

Thank you for responding, however I did call the tech center and they are sending a phone out to replace my current phone.

To answer your questions, the reception issue ... has always been an issue...but is now more aggravating now that I am busy.

We have 6 lines on our account and two of those lines live in the same house and do not have any problems, and they both have Iphones. I do not have any issues with the data services it is just the voice and reception and texts failing. This problems is only in my home. If I go to visit other offices or another home I have no problem. Just my home.

So having been through two tech and two phones. Verizon's answer was buy the extender for $250.00.

However from reading other blogs this may or may not work. I need a reliable phone for my business and Samsung Galaxy S III is not it. I am really frustrated with Verizon Tech Service how they contradict one another. So now for $50.00 more on the extender I can purchase an Iphone 5 on ebay.

Did they offer you any type of replacement phone? Such as a swap to a totally differerent phone?

My reception is atrocious, I cant even use it in my house, Right now its roaming.

No I was not offered any deals, or replacement phones. I feel your pain, I work from home and need my phone to work. One other person in my family plan was up for a new phone in 2012 so I used his upgrade and I now have IPhone 5. Not happy but it works.

Did they initially replace your galaxy s3? if so how many times?

I read in another thread that someone was offered the razor as a replacement

Yes they did replace my Galaxy S3 twice. I thought about the Razor and my son has one, when he came to visit he was having the same issues as my Galaxy, that is why I stayed away from Droids and went to IPhone.

Same issues as described above. Replacement phone should be received today. We'll see if the replacement solves the problem. If not, I'm just going to continue to complain until I get some resolution. Been a VZW customer for years and just want the service I paid for.

I have had two replacements and still have the same issue. The phone cuts off after two minutes on all calls. My son has an iPhone and does not have this issue. My husband has a Razor and does not have this issue. The issue appears to be the S3. Does the S4 have this same antenna problem? Replacing the phone is not fixing the problem.

Yup got my warranty replacement and the issues are still there and in some cases worse than before. I've had 2 times now where I get a no smoking symbol instead of 4g or even 3g. This happened when in my backyard where I can see a VZW store in the plaza on the other side of the road. My very first call dropped and last night speaking to my elderly mother she suddenly couldn't hear me and I had to call back on a landline. So sick of Verizon and this phone. Getting no satisfaction from Verizon but I will be calling them again.

I'll just call Tech support again. The friggin phone is randomly telling me I'm roaming. Still dropped calls and sometimes people can't even hear me. This is much worse than before. I'm not traveling anywhere I have never been before and the Thunderbolt worked fine. My old motorola flip phone was better than this! Disgusting

Im having the same problems. within a 3-4 mile radius of my house I cant make any phone calls with out looking like im doing a rain dance in my front yard. Ive talked to the people from the verizon where I bought my phone and they have pretty much told me that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. everytime I have an issue with my reception I am around my house and I get very aggitated with the service but the only option I have is to call in and complain which is almost impossible so by the time I get to where there is service I am cooled down to where I dnt wanna waste my time calling customer service.

I have a Galaxy S III also and I have signal strength issues at my home. It isn't the house blocking it because I get the same issues throughout my subdivision. The most I get is 3 bars and around -100dbm and calls break up. 4GLTE appears to work fine, but I don't use it much at home since I have WiFi. I can travel less than a mile down the road outside of my subdivision and get 5 bars. I called in a complaint to customer service and they first told me there are no problems in the area, then I said I was still having the problem, which I was told would be resolved in "24-48" hours, That was Thursday of last week. We've had some bad weather here and I understand the weekend fell in there, but would like to see some results or at least hear something is being done. I don't have a landline so we need our cellphones. Just hoping something can be done because we spent enough on the 2 phones, don't want to drop another $250 on a network extender.

My problems are with voice calls. I get at most 3 bars in my subdivision, at most -100dbm signal, and calls often break up. I get the same results both inside and outside of my home. I can't say for sure how data is at home because I have a WiFi network and use that for downloading. My home is in ZIP code 70816.

At work(ZIP 70802), inside and office building, I get full signal, often 5 bars around around -80dbm signal or better. Data works well there too. I put in a complaint with customer service and they gave me a ticket number, telling me something would be done within 48 hours last Thursday but so far, no change. I'm still within my 14 day grace period and if this doesn't improve, I'll either have to go back at AT&T or spend another $250 on a network extender.

Not sure what to do.

Well, after my 3rd Samsung replacement, I finally got a Motorola Razr HD. Great so far. Works all around the house...finally!!! I kept saying it's not the network, it's the phone. This proves it!! Never again Samsung. Never again!

Want to hear something funny though. When they said they would replace the S3 with the Motorola, I got the Motorola in a day and 3 days later....another Samsung S3. Smooth move!
