S III Mini new OTA Update?

I received an OTA update tonight. The android version hasn't changed. Selecting the option Software update in the settings menu displays a message saying that the last update version was SAM_SMG730V_Fwd1483521782_G730VVRUBNE2_G730VVRSBQA1. The Linux kernel is newly compiled.

If it matters, it's an SM-G730V.

Happen to anyone else?

I got solicited for an update just now for the S4 Mini. (SCH-i435)

I'm assuming it's a patch for fixing Dirty-Cow, which has been a vulnerability in the Linux kernel for quite some time but was discovered only recently. I'm afraid to update though as I'm afraid it might break root with no way to re-root if they've fixed all known vulnerabilities.
That being said, I'd rather my phone not be susceptible to Dirty Cow, and have updated all my Linux machines since the exploit was discovered.
