S III Recent Call tab - how do I stop call log history from being auto deleted?

Hi,
About a month ago, my S III started automatically deleting my recent call log (I just updated OS on 6/25, so I can't blame it on the update). Now S III only holds about 60 days worth, where it used to have recent calls logged from when I got the phone July 2012. Is there a setting I can change to keep history unless I manually delete recent calls from the log?
Sorry if this has been asked already, I searched & could not find any discussions here on the boards.
Thank you
Cathy McC

I would check in the phone app settings for such a thing.
If you can't find it, the might be an alternative. I do know there is a call log backup and restore application in the Play Store. You could install and go through this app's settings to setup a backup schedule where it automatically generates a backup of your call log.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

thank you for quick reply Ann154, but my phone used to keep the log. I search every setting on my phone and found none, hence my question here on the board. My husband has same phone and it has the recent call log back to July 2012.

Mine only goes back 2 weeks. Is it possible that it keeps a set number of calls? As opposed to a time frame?

Mine started with the upgrade. My log use to keep for as long as
wanted it too. Now it clears every day. This needs to stop. Additionally, it
takes forever to load the phone and when i click on the favorites or contacts
it takes a long time before I can swipe the name to call. I have checked all of
my settings for the phone and they are the same yet it is still deleting the
recent call logs. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Strange my phone was only showing a couple weeks until I did this. Open phone app, click on recent tab, Click on menu button, click on view by and make sure all calls in checked. When I first opened view by nothing was checked after I checked All calls my calls go back to 1/2013.

Hi GLW163,
Mine was & still is set to all calls. Even if I switch around, still only 2 months worth.
Thank you

I can understand the need of the Call-log history Cathy_McC. I was able to confirm that this is not a known issue. A software update is supposed to enhance the features of the device, certainly not the opposite. I would like to dig deeper to see why this is happening. Please follow me and send me a private message with your mobile number. I can lift this to our product developers to see if there is a resolution or to determine if this is known to happen with the new update. I am looking forward to your reply.
Thank you,

Hi Lena
I stated in my original post that this started happening before the update. The update so far has slowed my S3 down a bit. i had to disable Caller Name ID & FlipBoard since I do not want them & hopefully phone speeds up now that I disabled the both.
Thank you

Thanks for the clarity Cathy_McC. Are you running build number JZO54K.I535VRBMF1? Please verify in Settings>About Phone>Build Number. If not, please scroll above and check for updates by selecting Software Update>Check New. Has has your phone responded upon disabling Caller Name ID and FlipBoard? Please share so I may further assist if needed. Thank you

Are you using any task killer Apps?
Some of these purchased apps clear cache, cookies and would dump your phone logs.

i'm not on my note II and my call log only goes back 1 month now. i hate the idea of using a 3rd party dialer, but i might have to, just to see if it will store the call log longer. my emails only go back a couple of weeks and i can't find a setting to change that either????

Cathy_McC,
Great additional information. Upon review of my own GS3, I have calls going back to October of last year so we want to make sure you have the same luxury. Given you're completely up to date with this issue stemming from before your most recent update and having the "all calls" setting selected, I would recommend now going to settings > application manager > all > phone > clear data as the next step to testing for a remedy. Please share results.

Hi Evan,
Wouldn't that delete what is left in the call history? I may loss everything anyway if I do factory reset to see if I get my GPS working again.

I removed my battery & SIM card for about a minute. Put both back & GPS working again.
