S III shuts off

For the past couple of weeks my S III has been shutting off and rebooting at radium times, during calls, text, g-mail, in the middle of the night when, or just whenever, I don't see a pattern. Any clues?

Try these, in this order, until the problem is solved or you figure out what is causing it.

  1. Reboot your phone.
  2. Remove battery, SIM card, and SD card.  Reinstall SIM and battery, but leave SD card out for a while to see if SD card is causing problems.
  3. Clear system cache (wipe cache partition).
  4. Run in Safe Mode for a while to see if a rogue downloaded app is the cause.
  5. Do a Factory Reset (be sure and back everything up first).
  6. Contact Verizon about a warranty exchange.
