S20+5G no internet connection and bad call reception

My S20+5G has terrible reception during phone calls and when I'm online I get no internet connection ALOT! I pay way too much for a service that I can't use so frequently! My zip code is 85207.

The S20+ 5G is far too awesome of a phone to be dealing with any calling and internet connection issues. Let's make sure you get the service you're paying for. What is your signal strength currently? What difference do you see when you are outdoors versus indoors? Do your issues occur in other areas as well?

Right now my signal strength is -105 dBm 35 asu inside and I went outside a few minutes ago and it was -98 dBm 38 asu. Yeah the problem is pretty consistent. I had thought when I first got this phone that my days of waiting on buffering were over. What a disappointment.

Crasher1, ensuring your services and our network is working properly is important to us. Let's get some additional details. Did you have this issue on previous devices or did it start with this phone? You've mentioned buffering issues. Are you on an unlimited plan that can impose network management restrictions at all times or when a certain amount of LTE data has been met? How far must you be from the impacted location before the service improves?

We'd like to get a bit more information on this issue. How far from the area do you have to travel before you notice an improvement in service? Does the device show 4G LTE?

I would like to jump in and second the experiences of the poster. I am a mobile Healthcare professional and I also Door Dash nightly.

When my S20+5G shows a 4G symbol, everything works great.

When my S20+5G shows the 5G symbol, internet is frequently lost. If the internet does connect, the speeds and response times are way slower than when on the 4G symbol.

This issue has disrupted my job and Door Dashing quite frequently. 

I live in the 98372 zip code, but travel all over Pierce County.

While on 5G, text messages and phone calls do not arrive, or arrive way after the fact.

As indicated, if the 5G symbol is present, I can not send or receive messages, but I can place calls. 

Once the 4G symbol is back, messages will work.

Thank you for the details, MorbidFun. Are you using the standard messaging app that came preinstalled on your S20+5G? If so, can you switch to the messaging+ application and test the issue for us?

Hi. 

Again, the underlying issue is no internet connection on 5G 90 percent of the time. When this occurs, I can not use the browser, messaging, etc. 

It starts with that issue, not whether I use Messaging + or another app.

What causes the S20+ to not establish internet connectivity on the 5G symbol, but 4G works great?

This issue is out there, as evidenced by the other responses.

From my experiences it's due to the 5g tower being used.  Certain parts of my city it's works flawlessly, other areas different towers I have to switch to 4g.  I know this isn't a solution but something Verizon needs to fix.

iphone 12 pro max + 5G = no internet connection either. No matter what i do if it's on 5G i get no data whatsoever. So infuriating this all happened since 5G was rolled out.

I'm having the same issue with my Z fold 3. No internet on 5g, but toggling airplane mode will sometimes force it to connect to 4g and then everything works fine. My previous 4g phones worked great so I don't even want 5g if it less reliable and I don't need the higher speed when it occasionally works. Therefore, can I just disable 5g on my account or downgrade to a 4g plan? I really need stable internet for work.

I have the exact same issue as others have reported with S20+. When the 5G symbol is active I can't receive data, OUTDOORS in an open space.

ZIP: 78628, also 78681

I didn't have this problem with my previous droid X phone; never!

Is there a way to deactivate 5G? Please advise.

We want you to get excellent service at all times and everywhere, SSteveTX. You mention that this never happened with your previous phone. The first thing we must do is reset the connection of your phone to the nearest tower. To do this, please power your phone off for 2 full minutes and then power it on and call #832 to confirm that your phone is connected to the network. Then test for a few hours and let us know if you notice service improvement. -Antonio

I'm having the same problem as MorbidFun. I'm in the same city, different zip (98374) but same location overall. There was no problem with service before I got the S20+ 5G.

Paying too much to have bad calls and no internet access.
