S4 Chooses incorrect time zone when set to automatic

My S4, and my son's, are choosing the incorrect time zone when the phones are set to choose automatically.

The phones were working and my son noticed his was off earlier in the week and mine seems to have developed the same issue sometime last evening.

They are both choosing Central Time and should be choosing Mountain Time.

Location services are enabled on both (GPS & Verizon as well as Google Wi-Fi)

I've launched my phone in Safe Mode and the issue still occurs

On my son's we chose to set time zone manually which works, but it reset itself to automatic later and returned to being incorrect.

We'll get that time corrected! It could be that the phones are picking up a different (and incorrect) location through your Wi-Fi connection if you are using one. Please turn your Wi-Fi off, power down the phone, remove the SIM card and battery for 30 seconds, then put the phone back together and turn it on (keeping Wi-Fi off). That should connect the phone to the nearest cell phone tower and prompt the correct time to display. Let us know the status of your clocks after trying this out!

It had 'fixed' itself prior to your reply. However, the issue is back, my son's phone moved ahead an hour again to Central Time Zone and his alarm went off an hour early... so since we're up we tried your suggestion (turn off wi-fi, power off remove battery and sim card wait 30 seconds, put it back together and turn it on... the time didn't correct itself, it still is an hour ahead)... h e l p !

My computer was doing the same thing as well, but try this have your Son call your phone or you call your sons phone see if that corrects the time.. when the call is pushing through it should correct any errors in the time..

Thanks for the idea... tried both ways, even tried calling from the old land line (yep, I'm a dinosuar) but no change... it's weird the weather app on the home screen displays the correct time but the actual time (top right corner) is an hour ahead of us (and if you look at time settinsg it's showing we are in central, when we are really in mountain)... guess it's better than being an hour behind and alarms going off late.. but still it's frustrating

I too can confirm the same problem on one of two Galaxy S4's. This did not happen until after the 4.4.2 update on 4/25.

Forgot to mention I am in the Mountain Time Zone as well.

Same problem on two S4 phones: Automatic Time and Date is 3 months ahead, and Automatic Zone is Mountain instead of Pacific -- wether on Mobile of Wireless (our router and ISP have correct times), as well as in Safe Mode. This really messed up sync with our Google account and connectivity to several apps.

Tech support confirmed all this and offerred to give us noew phones, but admitted this most likely is a software problem that will have to handled by Samsung or Verizon.

The temp solution is set set everything in the Date and Time window to manual (not Automatic), and at least the phones work fine this way. My main concern is whether the seconds and minutes will stay accurate under manual.

Mine had been behaving,,, until this morning and now I have magically jumped back to Central Time Zone (I'm in Mountain)... have tried all the reset tricks that worked in the past, but it is still Central Time... I see two posts previous to this one, VanessaS_VZW from Verizon stated 'while this is worked out by the manufacturer' ... is this now a known issue and Samsung is working on it? Should I be seeking help from Samsung?

Just happened to me this morning. I had no 4G signal, so I rebooted. This afternoon, the clock is ahead by one hour (upper right display), even though the weather app shows the correct time. I'm in Mountain time zone.

Try running a system cache clear and then pull the battery and press the power button in for 20sec. with the battery out of the phone reinstall the battery power the phone up, see if that fixes the issue

My phone is off by one hour. Probably due to daylight savings time which we (AZ) doesn't follow. My widget clock is right but the small clock on the notification bar is wrong. Where do I fix that clock?

In your settings pull your notification bar Down tap on settings then find Time & Date or Date & Time click on that and look through the settings to make changes or change any settings thats needed to keep the time up to date..
