S5 SpeakerPhone Volume Not Adjusting (very low)

While I can put my phone on Speakerphone, it is very low. I kept trying to adjust the volume and I realized it was not effecting the output at all!

Upon closer look, I noticed that the icon for volume is still the phone shape (i.e. it thinks I am not on speakerphone) and not the speakerphone symbol which I believe it should be.

I know that the phone is for sure set to Speakerphone. If I toggle the speakerphone button while on a call it clearly makes a difference, however once on speakerphone it is somehow stuck at a low setting.

Again, seems like my phone can turn on speakerphone but for someone reason the settings think I am not, and therefore have no bearing on loudness.

Hmm, that's odd jjharris316, but let's find out what's going on here. Please make sure you remove the case if you have one. In addition, make sure sure there isn't a screen protector that could be blocking the sound on your phone. If you use the phone in Standard Mode. Make a call and make sure volume is up during the call, then switch for speakerphone and turn up volume.

Not sure what icon is being referred to but on my S5, still ver 4.4.4, it is a phone when adjusting volume regardless of whether or not I use speaker.  BUT, I recently had a problem where suddenly the speakerphone was very low and it sounded like it was coming from both the normal speaker and the speakerphone.  After reading some other posts I powered it up in safe mode and speakerphone worked.  Then, after rebooting normal it still works.  Some folks stated that they had to power down the phone, remove the battery and wait 10 minutes to cure the issue.  While it is nice that this corrects the problem there was not any technical explanation as to what might have caused the problem in the first place.
