My Galaxy S5 keeps duplicating my contacts. How do I fix it?
Bosdad-
You have such a great phone and we certainly want things to work correctly with your device. When did you first notice your contacts were duplicating? Does it happen when you backup your contacts through the Cloud app? Please share more details with us.

I first noticed it with the last update that I download from Verizon. It does duplicate the contacts if I do a backup. I have tried to delete from the cloud hoping it would delete from my contacts in my phone with no success.
Sounds like you have some excellent instincts Bosdad. Deleteing contacts from the cloud is a great place to start. You would need to manually delete the duplicates from your phone as well. Lets look into this a little further, do you have your phone backed up in more than one place? Like the Verizon Cloud & Google (for example)? As far as I know the cloud only. My phone will not do manual deletes of my
contacts. When I press A contact It Says No Information found.

Bosdad,
We definitely don't want this duplication to continue. Just to verify, you are seeing the duplicate contacts, but when selecting them, so you can delete, you get an error "No Information Found"?

Thank you for those details, Bosdad. Do you have any application that may link to your contacts? This is a problem which it seems Verizon can't fix. I have tried to solve this by cleaning up in my Verizon account, on my iphone, in my yahoo and google accounts, but "Backup Asst" still list a large number of contact to transfer to my phone. I decline to use it any more.
To Verizon Tech: Instead of asking a bunch of questions just try using it on your phone and see what happens, then find someone to fix the software.
We want to do everything we can to alleviate the frustration from your phone duplicating the contacts. I use the Verizon Cloud app on on my phone as well as many of my peers, but we're not able to replicate an issue with the contacts being duplicated as you're experiencing. I also checked to see if there were any known concerns regarding the Verizon Cloud app duplicating contacts, but found no known issues.
Since cleaning up all of your accounts didn't help, the next option would be to perform a factory reset on your phone, which will erase everything. Here's a link to steps to perform the reset http://vz.to/1P20K0s .
