I'm having the same problem at home, started yesterday for me. Thought it may have been my ISP (AT&T Uverse), but found nothing useful from them. Could this be a Verizon network or Galaxy S5 specific problem? Any help would be appreciated, the constant reconnecting is killing my battery life!

Can you avoid weak connections within WiFi Advanced settings, or stop it from Always Scanning? What about a smart switch in your settings or power saving options that are turned on?

I'm having the same problem. From what I can tell it only started about a week ago. Happens at work even though I have a very strong connection there. And I noticed it at Applebees WiFi connection 2 days ago. Does not happen at home.

Same here. It's been happening for a few days. I haven't been paying much attention, but my wife has an S5 and isn't having this problem. (also, I have the worst reception in the world, while she spends most of the day on the phone with her S5 and no issues.) I'm thinking this might be a hardware issue, but any information from Samsung or Verizon on this issue would be great..

Have same issue. Wiped my cache partition but that did not seem to fix the issue, it was fine for about an hour but then decides to cycle through connecting, dropping and reconnecting. This is nuts.

Lets ensure your device is running in top condition! What software version are you running? How long has this been occurring?

I just upgraded to Lollipop this morning, still having the same issue at home. Also am currently sitting in my office and having the same cycling wifi problem. Now I'm pretty sure it's the device/software/Verizon network and not my ISP.

Sleff7,
Sorry to hear that you are having the trouble with the Wi-Fi since the software update! Just to clarify, have you alreadt tried the sequence previously suggested by webbster? Wipe cache partion> Factory reset> Firmware update with KIES> complete all available software updates? Go to Apps> Settings> Wi-Fi. Touch the menu icon in the upper right (3 dots). Select Advanced. Is Always allow scanning on or off? Is Smart network switch on or off?

Thanks for the follow up, BrianP_VZW. I would like to point out the wifi issue started last week, prior to any firmware/software changes. Wifi has worked seamlessly since I brought my phone home last May until this week.
The Lollipop update did not make a difference, still having the same wifi cycling issue. My hesitation with a factory reset lies with needing to download all of my apps again. Because I have not been running on wifi, my data usage has increased greatly. I don't imagine you can speak for customer service/billing but I hope some sort of credit is issued for customers that have data overages, if this problem is determined to be on Verizon's side.

I understand your concern about the factory reset Sleff7! The good news is that your applications are saved with your Gmail account and will automatically redownload to your phone. I don't want you to go over your data and I would love for you to try the wipe of cache http://vz.to/1B2Ps80 for me to see if we can get your Wi-Fi to work. Have you tried to put on safe mode http://vz.to/1CVxi8U ?

I appreciate your suggestions, AmberF_VZW. I tried both of your suggestions and have still not had any success getting the wifi to function properly. Again, my biggest hesitation to wiping the phone for a fix that may or may not work, is the gigabytes of apps/photos/texts that I'll need to download after. If the fix doesn't work, then I'll have an empty phone and the possibility of overage charges to bring everything back on board.

Once you factory reset then the hope is you wifi will then be working so u will not use data. If you use the KIES program provided by Samsung then everything is backed up on your PC.

Thank you, webbster. I'm happy to hear that fixed your wifi problem. And thank you for explaining KIES to me, I wouldn't have known what that was. It is obnoxious that wifi would suddenly stop working with no change on the user end, but such is life. Thank you again.
