That was 6 days ago. Can someone please please help

I'm guessing that it was factory reset for you when you bought it used?
Did Verizon replace the SIM card while you were there?

Yes have had it reset at Verizon and by Samsung tech at best buy, have had two sim cards put in. The last time they said my phone calls were trying to go to my s3, but supposedly fixed that. I don't know if it's a clue or not but if you restart the phone it automatically goes into global mode snd has yo manually be put onto lte cdma

They were probably trying to go your S3 because you had it powered on and with a SIM card in it when you activated the S5.
Did any of them tell you that it could very well be the device?
What happens when you try to make a call?
When you say reset, you do mean FACTORY reset correct?

The SIM card is how you access service. You can take your SIM card and put it in a compatible device and use that device. They have simplified how you activate devices these days, you don't have to call in always, or do it online, you can often just do a SIM card swap.

Well if you decide to and the s3 works and you can make calls then it's time to look at the S5 as being flawed; slim card slot issues perhaps, not sure. If it doesn't work, then it's the SIM card still.

I understand the importance of being able to make and receive calls from your phone Jgerringer. Let's get to the bottom of your service concerns. Was the Galaxy S5 you purchased from a friend a Verizon Wireless S5? Have you already tried using the SIM card you had on your S3 in the S5? I understand you also filed a ticket with our Techincal Support Team. Have you received any updates on the ticket that was filed?

If the sim card was in your S3 and you could send and receive calls, and the sim card is the same size for the S5, it should fit right in and work fine. You do have to have the phone off, slip the sim card in, and turn the phone back on. If that does not work, try putting the sim back in your S3 and try to make a call. If it goes through, try putting it back in the S5. If it does not go through, or if it still does not work on the S5, you will have to go to a verizon store tomorrow and they will swap your old sim card for a new one for free.

You can call in to check on your service report.
Is it an area service report I'm guessing? You could ask other Verizon users in the area if they are experiencing call troubles and save yourself some time.
