Bentmountain,

I know receiving the latest software update is essential. I’ll be happy to help address this matter regaridng your equipment and the most recent software update. We have not received anymore details about this topics. At times when devices are discountined that does not mean that new software updates with stop. We suggest for more information to reach out to Samsung directly. They can be reached at 888-987-4357. I hope this information helps.

Thanks for the non response ..

Samsung says all security updates and 6.01 have been put in verizon control only verizon is allowed to push security updates or any updates.

Because that's your agreement with samsung.

It's time for us to fully own our devices .

When we buy A PC we have full ownership the OS. Is updated direct from that company not the manufacturer or reseller.

If it is important to have timely updates, choose a phone which will allow you to do so.

Currently, that would be the iPhone or a Nexus phone. Any other phone you choose will be left to the back/forth update battle between the manufacturer and Verizon.

That may have been the case with Nexus phones sold by Verizon, but Nexus phones sold by Google, i.e. Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, are current with their OS. I have the 5X and have had Android 6 since December.

Not a bit. I routinely switch my nano SIM from a Galaxy S6 to iPhone 6 to Nexus 5X. No problems whatsoever. Works perfectly.
