Samsung Fascinate Bluetooth Issue

Having trouble with the Fascinate and with Bluetooth devices.  Connected/paired the fascinate to car and earpiece.  Both devices experience same problem.  Hear static and noise when making/receiving calls.  Calls appear to connect; however, can not hear person through noise. Any suggestions out there..Blackberry works fine with same devices. Was purchased as a certified pre-owned.

I'm sorry to say it appears the issue is related to the Fascinate especially if two different bluetooth devices are experiencing the same issue and works fine on another phone. We recommend to take your phone and earpiece to a Verizon Wireless store with a tech for a hands-on evaluation. You would be able to exchange the phone at no charge as long as you are under the one year warranty and there is no physical/liquid damage. You can also call (866) 406-5154 to troubleshoot and have a replacement sent to you.

Im having simialr isssues with Two Fascinates. Both my wife and I have recently received the over the air Froyo 2.2 update. Since this update, both phones do not connect properly with our two Kia vehicles. Searching the internet, and calling customer support, getting to the next level tech support and thus sent directly to the manufacture's tech support all have ended in a big "I dont know" Can someone please help!

Everything worked PERFECTLY until the Froyo 2.2.

I have done a COMPLETE hard reset to factory defults on both phones, added the language voice input outputs from the market, but still have the same issue.

The issue is that the phone can connect to the Car 1 time. once that call is ended, it will never reconnect until you pull the battery and restart phone. this starts the whole process over again... 1 connection, 1 call. then nothing. I want Firmware 2.1 back!

One more thing. When the first and only bluetooth call is disconnected, the phone has a series of Hard vibrates. One when the call is ended, then TWO shortly after. Once these HARD vibrates are done, the phone will not connect again, and the phones also do not function correctly. Sounds and ringtones are choppy and swipe is almost impossible to make work. HELP

I know exactly what you mean, my fascinate does the same thing with the weird vibrating. I know once it vibrates those 3 times, I am doomed and has lost its bluetooth connection.  This is  absolutely ridiculous. I am regretting ever changing to Verizon and wont get to use my new car feature for another 2 years.

Greetings to the community! Sorry to hear anyone is having Bluetooth pairing problems with the Fascinate. Be advised that I have confirmed that this issue has been brought to the attention of VZW Tech Support. Thanks for your patience.

This is not a new problem with this phone and should have been fixed a long time ago. The problem is my phone. I know this because I have tested the handsfree stereo with other phones(htc, iphone) and it works perfect. I have checked my phone with other handsfree devices and it fails with them as well. The fix seems to be taking an eternity.

I believe the phone is having problems communicating with the handsfree device. After connecting and making or taking one call, the phone fails to update the new list for call history. The screen on the handsfree device will show "updating list", and gets stuck there. The phone vibrates as described above and loses connection. However, the phone does not know the connection is lost?! It thinks it is still connected until I turn the bluetooth off. Even long after getting out of my car- Weird. Also the phone stops working properly after this happens-strange ringtones, swipe doesn't work right, etc. This continues until I turn my phone off.

A fix would be great and I could go back to loving my phone.

Is this the new update that puts the app "Books" on your phone? I just got the newest update but have not had a chance to really test out the bluetooth yet. I have had this problem since the 2.2 update as well, which was March or April. Very irritating, but just got used to having to pull the battery every once and awhile. Thanks

I am dealing with the exact same problem described here.  The Samsung Fascinate has been nothing but a paper weight for me since I purchased it and even after sending in for a certified replacement it still continues to be more of a burden than a way of communicating.

Bought a brand new 2012 Kia Sportage today and after trying to connect to the bluetooth (which it did, once, then not again) it now sounds like it is under water when it rings or when I receive email/text notifications.  If I start from scratch the phone will pair to the bluetooth system but I cannot hear anything inside the vehicle when using the phone.  The caller or person I am trying to call, can hear me fine.  It is not the car, as evidenced by the multiple complaints such as this and the fact that it worked fine the first time for everyone.

It has been 5 months since this problem was first brought to the attention of this board.  When does Verizon forsee a fix being found?  This phone has caused nothing but problems since day one and yet Verizon will only replace it with.... the same phone.

  • Texts that are never recieved
  • Texts that never make it to their destination
  • Phone calls and texts that say they are from people they aren't from
  • Emails you read and delete and then get a notification for as a new email again 5 seconds later
  • Pressing the camera button only to open My Verizon
  • And now bluetooth that doesn't function at all

At what point does Verizon admit they screwed their customers over and make things right?

Hi Travlcub,

I understand your discontent with regards to Bluetooth connectivity issues. Please note that while Bluetooth is now a very common technology to connect wireless devices, compatibility is still subject to settings and profiles determined by device manufacturers and not all devices are compatible. Please check with your car manufacturer for compatible Bluetooth devices to ensure a complete/positive Bluetooth connectivity experience.

SERIOUSLY VZW SUPPORT? Bluetooth is a well defined standard. Standards exist to reduce or eliminate compatibility issues. Devices either support a bluetooth protocol or they don't. If the device supports the Bluetooth protocol but doesn't work right - THAT'S A BUG - NOT A COMPATIBILITY ISSUE!!!!!

I have problems similar to those described above. Fascinate on VZW stock 2.2.1 release. Kenwood DDX418 head unit just put in my car. Details of my symptoms are below. But before I get to them, I tried several other BT phones with my Kenwood and all worked well. These other phones were: a VZW Samsung Intensity II, an ATT IPhone 4, an ATT Blackberry (not sure which model), a VZW HTC Incredible, and a SPRINT HTC EVO 4G. All worked fine with the Kenwood - manual dialing and hands free call, hands free voice dialing and call, BT phone and BT media connections - all suggests to me a VZW Fascinate problem to me... but that's just me!

My symptoms... (with the Fascinate - again -  5 out of 5 other phones tested worked)

1. Pairs and connects no problem. Always connects both the phone and media profiles which is fine with me if the thing works.

2. Receiving a call works fine.

3. Press "voice dial" on the Kenwood starts Nuance voice recognition. I can instruct the phone through BT to call XXX. The fascinate starts to dial and as soon as it starts to dial, the Kenwood drops the BT connection (not the paired connection - it simply thinks the phone has dropped the BT connection for this call).

4. The phone completes the call but the audio is not transferred through the BT connection. The called party can hear me (presumably through the phone's mic - not the BT mic of the Kenwood).

5. If I leave the call connected, I can change the Kenwood to it's BT media mode and the called party and I can converse through the BT connection with the phone.

6. When I disconnect the call on the phone, the phone and the Kenwood remain "paired" but can no longer communicate. As others have suggested, the phone is in a bad state that essentially hangs the phone to the point I sometimes have to remove the battery. If I wait out the strange mode the phone is in, it may reboot itself after 5 or 10 minutes. Pressing buttons have liminted or no response. Sometimes I get an error message about "twlauncher" (I don't have the exact message - but in essence it is asking me if I want to force it closed).

7. UNLIKE some of the reports above, I have had no problem with any BT earpiece yet. I've used 3 different ones all of which worked for voice dialing.

Kenwood of course has a very short list of phones that have been tested - presumably they test a sampling of phones and presume that other phones have correctly implemented BT features. They have no answer for me since they have not tested the VZW Fascinate and so don't make any specific claim to support it (nor do they claim to suppoprt any of the other phones I tried above other than the IPhone).

It would be nice to think VZW can address this matter quickly. The VZW support person at the local retail outlet simply said "sell this phone and buy another on ebay or somewhere" . Incredible! If I have to wait another 10 months for my contract to end I may as well switch carriers if I am switching phones anyway...

I have the exact same problem. Phone connects to Bluetooth in my car one time and one time only. Every subsequent attempt to connect fails. However, this was the case for me running 2.1 as well. No change after 2.2 update.

I am having the same exact issue with my Samsung Fascinate and my 2011 Kia sportage.  It works perfectly....ONE TIME.  It will literally allow only one phone call and then it will not connect anymore until I reboot my car and my phone.  This is ridiculous, especially since I just got my car and phone, and of course now I have a 2 year contract which means I have 2 years until I can actually use my bluetooth car system.  Please give me a heads up when this problem is fixed!

Just read your problem with your KIA, I just bought a 2012 VW Passat and the same issues.  Did you get a fix?

Thanks!

I am having the same issue - my Fascinate will not consistently connect with the Bluetooth on my home phone system, my brand new Kenwood stereo in one car, or my brand new 2011 Honda Odyssey.   They must be all on the same technology.  It will drop calls from the Bluetooth within seconds, it will not recognize that it is no longer connected and I cannot hang up the call from the Bluetooth so the car continues to think it's connected until I finally turn off the phone completely so that I can hear the radio again.  This is SO frustrating - what is Verizon doing about this??

I have been a faithful owner of Samsung cell phones since my very first phone in 2000, and if I have to completely replace a phone that is less than a year old, it will not be with another Samsung.
