Wow strossj1. I want you to be able to enjoy every feature and service on your fantastic new S4. You've certainly done a lot of leg work already, so let's get you a seat to rest ad enjoy your new phone. I have a few questions for you though... Are you able to receive picture messages? If you are, have you tried forwarding a picture message you received to see if those pictures can send too? Other than the spinning wheel, do you end up with an error message after a few minutes?

One thing I'd also like you to double check is that your Mobile Data is turned on with this fantastic new phone. Picture messages can't send over WiFi, so if you go to Settings>Data Usage, please make sure Mobile Data is turned on/checked.

I am having this same problem. I can receive a MMS message. But I cannot send the picture that I receive. The wheels spends and I get a message that it failed.

Thanks for sharing your issue as well rbe. Are you connected to wifi or have wifi turned on when this happens? Please turn off wifi if it is.

I was having the same issue and had it resolved by a technician at VZW.

Go to Settings/More Networks/Mobile Networks/Network Mode and change from Global to LTE/CDMA

I have the same issue.. Appears to happen when I'm at home and on WiFi. If I turn off Wifi it sends immediately over 4G.

I did check the thing that DarwinFlinch suggested below, but mine was already on CDMA.

I have same issue. Checked the Global vs CDMA/LTE setting as advised below but it was already set correctly. Cannot forward one that I get either. Am able to receive MMS though even on Wifi. Turned off Wifi and message went through finally. Is this a bug that is being fixed. Not very convenient to have to turn off Wifi each time to send a picture especially since there is no quick Wifi button on the pull down with the other settings.

Hi, I have tried all of the suggestions above - changing the next work mode, having wifi on/off while trying to send, etc. - and I still cannot send pictures. I get the spinning wheel. Can anyone provide more assistance? I am using the handcent app. Thanks!

I've had this phone for almost 3 weeks. Called Verizon, went to Best Buy, tweeted to Samsung. No one can help.

NEVER HAPPENED ON MY PREVIOUS PHONES. With the SGS4 being the holy grail nerd phone of the year, you'd think this bug would be worked out by now. NOPE.

I can receive MMS on Wi-Fi, can't send without turning off wifi which is SUCH a pain. After the keynote yesterday, iPhone is looking better and better. I'm really disappointed with this issue not being solved by now.

Funny thing for me is when I turn wifi off then I can send MMS... which isn't funny at all Samsung/Verizon need to figure this out and please fix it. At least I know the temporary fix. My specific problem was with the group messaging using MMS was not working. I guess I also had problems with pictures as well since it is MMS as well.

I called in to Verizon around 2 weeks ago I believe for a Corporate email issue. The Verizon tech had me change my network mode from Global to LTE/CDMA. That is really the only change that had been made.

As of about a week ago I noticed that I could not send pics while connected to 4G or WiFi. I could however receive pics when connected to either.

I just relized this and changed the network mode back to Global and I sent a pic with no issues. This was over 4G with WiFi on but not connected.

Not sure why this is but it worked for me. Hope it helps others!

I tired this while also turning off WiFi, not sure which did it but the message did go through. Seems crazy to have to toggle wifi every time I want to send a picture...

I cannot send picture (MMS) messages when connected to Wifi. This is true even if my mobile Data is turned ON. In other words, when both Wifi and Data are both on and connected, I cannot send pictures. If I turn Wifi off then the picture will send.

This crazy. Do I really have to turn off my Wifi every time I want to send a picture?

I've also tried every suggestion here and still can't send an MMS. Verizon either fixes the problem or takes $30 off my bill for each month this continues. You claim to have the best network yet I can't even send an MMS? WTF?

I had this same problem. The suggested "switch to from Global to LTE/CDMA" did nothing. However, if you would believe it, a simple reboot fixed the problem. Not a restart, but a full reboot. That's all. It's working now. /shrugs

Same issue here as well. The above recommendations of switching from global to LTE did not help. The only current fix that works is switching wifi off and then it sends no problem. I sure hope there is a fix comming soon on this. Epic fail with a phone that is supposed to have every feature under the moon but cant do a something that should be a given.

I had the same problem, i could not send pix message while on wifi. I pressed th power button and chose "RESTART". thats all it took, works fine now.

I also restarted my phone and it seems to have fixed the problem. I can send mms now with no problem, even with wi-fi on.

I have the same problem. I can recieve MMS, but can not send it. I tried it on 4g and on Wi-Fi. The data usage>mobile data is turned on (its checked) and the more networks>mobile networks> CDMA/LTE is turned on (its checked). And I still can not send picture messages. I've restarted my phone numerous times. And my phone has actually restarted it self 3 times. When I got the phone, the verzion store wasnt able to load/transfer any of my contacts (they couldnt figure out why). After spending 3 hours at the store, I left and decided to manually enter in all 236 contacts. That should of been my first sign as to the phone sucking!! I've had this phone for 7 days now and am thinking about returning it before the 14 days are up. I've had other problems and issues with this phone the last week, like the internet wont work and I cant get into the play store app that came pre-loaded on the phone. Overall, this phone really sucks and I think I will switch back to the Iphone. I was really looking forward to all the new features this phone has to offer, but it lacks the "normal" stuff I do on my phone..like search the web, picture message, and download apps.

Sending picture messages is definitely an important feature to have yourstrulydara. I'm sorry you're having issues with sending MMS and thank you for all the trouble-shooting you have performed so far with your device. Are you using a third party messaging application or the stock app on the phone? All the other issues your having is not typical of this particular phone. I know someone personally who has this phone and doesnt have any issues. I would definitely return it for a another Galaxy S4 after performing a hard reset. I also have the "crem de la crem" Galaxy S4 and am disgusted with this glitch. Restarting the phone works, but for a $700 value phone we shouldn't have to monkey around like that. In 2 days I have had to restart my phone 4 times in order to send a picture message. That's ridiculous! Verizon customer support couldn't help me so they conference called Samsung who was even less helpful. I have to wonder who they hire to be "technicians" when children know more than that rep did about technology!

Has anyone come up with anything else that fixes this problem? I will never have another Samsung phone if this is all the better they can do!!

Good morning. I am sorry to learn of the difficulites you are experiencing with your device. Although retarting your phone is a current fix to sending picture messages, I know how frustrating it can be to have to restart your phone before sending a picture message.

When you experience difficulties in sending a picture message, is your phone set to wi-fi? Please ensure you are connected to the VZW network when sending a picture. Picture messages may not be sent over wi-fi. Also, do you experience difficulties with sending a picture message everywhere you go or certain locations? Chiming into the conversation. Having the exact same issues as everyone else. Only turning off the wifi and restarting my phone did the trick. This is annoying and unnecessary for such an expensive phone. It almost feels like Verizon is doing this to MAKE us use up our data. Please fix, or it will be well worth the cancelation fee to switch to another network...

MMS messages are going to send over the cellular network and not wifi no matter which carrier you are on.

This is complete garbage, the restart the phone workaround does not always work, like in my case, there is nothing I can do to allow MMS messages to go through except kill the wifi then they go through without issue. This is not a viable solution and Verizon/Samsung need to get this worked out. This is NOT a hardware issue, it's a code issue in that when trying to send MMS when connected to the WIFI, the device is unable to differentiate between the different connections and just keeps attempting to send over WIFI. Since MMS doesn't work over WIFI, it sits and spins until the transfer finally fails. MMS is a key feature of any smartphone and this should be made TOP priority to resolveing but apparently Verizion is more interested in locking down the boot loader and pushing out crapware in it's latest update to resolve a major flaw in the operation of it's latest/ greatest smartphone offering.

I completely agree with all the complaints about the absurdity people are having to deal with when sending photos over this phone! I have had the S4 since the end of May and I have had problems sending MMS since I got the phone. As an example, I tried sending a photo nearly an hour ago and I STILL have the continuous circle going telling me that it is "sending." I am not connected to WiFi, I am set to the LTE/CDMA data network, and I have restarted my phone. Though I shouldn't have to do any of these things with a brand new phone that is marketed at being so state of the art, I did it to satisfy any suggestions I might be offered. I have never experienced problems like this with any other phone and it is incredibly embarrassing that my brother can send me a photo over his 4 year old flip phone while I can't send him one from my 2 month old S4.

Try pulling the battery while the device is "hot" (ON).

Wait a few minutes and re-install. Then restart .

I have not had any issues. My Wi-Fi is on auto-connect all the time. It toggles back & forth between Wi-Fi & 4G depending on what's available. When I want to send a MMS from home for example, where I'm always on Wi-Fi, the 4G kicks on, sends the MMS then kicks back to the Wi-Fi, I don't manually have to change any settings.

Lucky you!! As you can see, countless people are having the same issue with this "state of the art" phone. I just got an update this morning, so MAYBE the issue will be resolved now??

It has been an issue since I got the phone. As you can see, I am hardly the only one with this same ridiculous issue, so it is clearly not a location situation.

tiffywiffy530 we want you to have the best wireless experience and definitely don't want you to leave us. When sending picture messages, based on the size of the file, animation, and/or music attachment; it requires data transmission. As a result, the WiFi feature must be disabled to allow you to connect to our network. However, it does not debit from your data allowance. I hope this information is helpful to you.

That's completely ridiculous to have to toggle back and forth with wifi on and off to send a picture! Never before has that been an issue, so for it to be one on this "superior" and outrageously expensive phone is plain and simple nonsense! This is a big enough issue for many people to be considering switching service. Verizon and Samsung need to get it together and fix this stupid glitch. Cheap phones send pics using data, but with wifi on without problem. Any phone will resize a photo if it's too big to send, so all of that jibberish about the size is just that - jibberish. Bottom line - a simple function is not doable on "the best phone ever" with a retail price of close to $700. Please tell me how that makes an ounce of sense.

Totally agree. I'm having the same issue on both my S4 and my fiance's S4. Oh and the MMS message doesn't always send when I turn Wifi off. I really hope the Verizon folks in the message boards are relaying this issue up the chain.

I'm also having this issue when trying to send an MMS picture. I changed all my settings to match what everyone posted above (LTE/WiFi off/etc.) and the only thing that worked is rebooting my phone with wifi off. This seems a little ridiculous for such an expensive phone and a new network and needing to do this multiple times a day. I switched over from ATT 2 weeks ago; paid for early termination in the hopes that I wouldn't see the call quality issues I saw with them. Unfortunately, these issues I never saw with them and a lot of MMS pictures I send are business related so pretty important. Did I make a mistake thinking the grass was greener? I don't see any viable solutions to this issue above so I "can't hear you right now" Verizon, and cannot make a positive recommendation to others in my company considering this move. Please let me know that this issue is being pursued at the appropriate levels. Answering a Tech question above, I am in Chicago, so lack of 4G or LTE should not be a factor. I've also applied the latest update that was released last week to no avail.

I just got my samsung galaxy s4 also and is having the exact same problem. I am very disappointed with this. I did turn off my wifi off and the picture went through. This is very annoying having to turn it on and off just to send a picture. Verizon, you need to fix this problem and fast. I would hate to go back to my iPhone in which I had no problems with but I liked the galaxy better. This is definitely a big problem and very much of an inconvenience. I wish I knew this before I upgraded.

You have to wonder why some people are having problems with MMS and others are not. My phone right out of the box after the update was installed transmitted MMS to other Verizion customers, even with iphones. Also no problems receiving them either. I have data and wifi on an the picture gets transmitted in less than 10 seconds. Maybe its certain towers that are messing things up.

I find it very odd and disturbing that with SOOO many complaints, Verizon and Samsung aren't ALL OVER getting this fixed. Hey Verizon - what are you doing about this, ANYTHING??

I'm having the same issue. I have tried to restart my phone, taking the battery out, all with WIFI off. Still not working! I can receive images but cant send MMS files! Verizon why do you always cause so much stress to everyone? I would be leaving to another provider if the service wasn't good in my area.

My phone is still within the 14 day return window and if I had the problems of not being able to send MMS files and couldn't fix the problem, I would be down at the Verizon store and have them show me how to do it. If they can't get the phone to send MMS files then have it exchanged for one that can, and do not leave the store until the problem is fixed. Might have to go through a few phones to get one that works, but it does work.

Have you ever been able to send MMS files from other locations using different towers. This issue is so sparodic that it could be problems linked to the towers.

I send MMS files with preferred network set to global and I have wifi and data turned on and the latest android update installed.

Verizon wireless customer support either doesn't realize that many people are having this issue with the Galaxy S4 or they are choosing to ignore it. We should not need to remove apps, run in safe mode, remove sim cards, turn the wireless off, or restart the phone. Someone needs to figure this out. Not only do I have trouble sending pictures, but I often cannot send a group message without turning the wifi off or restarting my phone. My mother just had surgery and I was trying to keep the rest of the family informed and I had to keep restarting my phone. It was very annoying and stupid. I have just about had it with apologetic emails from Verizon telling us over and over again to do the same things, things that are either ridiculously inconvenient or are only a temporary fix. I'd love to see a response from Verizon that actually says they get it and are working on it.

Tennyl how much stuff have you downloaded to your phone? Could your phone send messages right out of the box? There is no one fix for those that have MMS problems because not everyone has the problem, only a small percentage, that is why I think it might be an app (which is working properly) but might be interfering with your ability to send messges. Those tasks that you say are highly inconvient are necessary to get to the root of the problem. I read this forum for a couple of month before I got my S4 and the first think I did was send a MMS file after setting up the phone minamally. I never downloaded an app for at least a week to make sure everything on the phone was working. After installing the first app I made sure the phone was working on all cylinders. This way if the phone has a problem I will deleate the last app or downloaded file to start the troubleshooting steps. I've had to reset a smartphone and a laptop back to factory setting to get them to work properly and that process as lengthy as it is solved the problems. If you do reset your phone back to factory condition DO NOT reinstall your apps from a backup. reinstall them one at a time from the play store and test your phone each time you put on another app. I know people like to use their phones and want them to work all the time but in all reality that is not the case. Troubleshooting problems on your own phone is one of the quickest way to find out how things work.

I have the same issue. When i disable WiFi, I can send messages, but otherwise it does not go through. I am guessing the phone is trying to use the WiFi connection to send that data out, which it won't complete. The only app that i can think may be interfering is Mighty Text. Does anyone else use Mighty Text and have these problems?

Like many before me, I had same problem trying to send a picture via text message with home wireless. Turned off wireless and message with picture was sent in seconds. Turned wireless back on and RESET the phone. Sent new message with picture and worked OK. Don't know how long this will work before the problem will resurface.

I got my S4 the date the latest update was pushed out. I get horrible verizon service everywhere I go. Almost never more than two bars (where my droid Charge would get 4). and MMS receives but does not send. I am on CDMA/LTE. I cannot send or forward pictures and I cannot participate in any group texting because it uses MMS. This is very annoying.

I am new to this particular forum. while I like the helpful attitude, I must say the platitudes from VZW are also a bit annoying (IMO)

So, I paid a lot of money plus the ridiculous "upgrade" fee and I gave up my unlimited data and the Verizon has given me it's Top of the Line phone and it can't do the very, VERY basic function of sending a picture text. Unless of course I turn of Wi-fi and use data. that's correct, the no longer unlimited data. very bad form verizon.

According to Verizon Customer Support (Post #38) sending MMS messages does not count against your data plan. It only counts against your Texting plan. BTW I have my network set to Global and I have been able to send and receive MMS with data and wifi both turned on.

I have followed the steps outlined here and I still have problems sending MMS while on WiFi. In order to send a MMS I do have to turn off my Wifi connection. This is a huge inconvenience and really annoying. I don't have any third party messaging apps. My roommate and I have the same phone, bought on the same day, I have white and they have the black. We also have the same apps. He doesn't seem to have the issue.

Since both of you have identical phones, bought together, it would be a simple process to find out what is wrong. Compare phones and make sure the one phone that does not work is set up identically to the one that does work. Go through all your phone settings and make sure that each phone is a mirror of the other. If each phone is set up the same and the MMS problem persists then the problem lies with the phone and not network equipment.

For this to work it is important to not make any changes to the phone that works. All phone changes should be made to the non working phone.

Keep track of the changes made to the non working phone, because if the phone is fixed by mirroring the good phone then you would have a list of changes to to look at to see if a piticular phone setting might be causing the problem.

We want you to get the great service you were use to, fsuinnc. While you'll need to turn off WiFi to send MMS as previously mentioned, you should be able to get the same fantastic signal you got on your Charge. Is the lower signal strength affecting anything other than MMS? Have you had the opportunity to complete the hard reset http://vz.to/1b59FYH that Evan mentioned? It may be that something during the update didn't quite sit right within your phone.

You are 100% correct! Sending MMS does not use up data or count against your data allowance.

If sending a MMS while connected to WiFi, your phone will temporarily connect to our network to send the MMS and go back to the WiFi connection. But don't worry because it's not using your data.

I previously had a HTC DNA. Due to my fault I dropped the phone and shattered the screen. Went through assurion and got a replacemnent the next day. Same issue with the replacement, but thus time due to case faulty. Was sent another, this time, like new device(not new) and being on the phone 5 minutes the screen and back goit VERY VERY HOT, was supposed to replace with a new one, but didn't. Finally called back spoke to Mgmt at assurion. They sent me the S4. I'm amazed with most features, however, same as everyone else(most) having issues with sending MMS. After reading all these posts, and replies via Verizon, whether the phone was free or we pay full price "WE S4 OWNERS" Should NOT have to do a reset. I just got this phone, and would like to know why the default that the S4 can not send over WiFi?? Just curious. For such a "GREAT" Phone, that is certainly a issue for majority of us! These should be directed to higher up. I contacted Samsung and was told they are looking into the issues. I have done everything I can think of and it is still giving issues. Vzw couldn't help, their only response is to a "hard reset" well from experience that doesn't always fix the issue. In fact it can cause more issues. When we purchase a phone we should have features available as stated. No where in the phamplet does it say u can not send MMS over WiFi. Unbelievable as to how unreliable some features are, and yet when we seek help no one can help. A update should be done. This is just my personal opionion. I take tons of pictures, and want too share them with friends and family. FIX ASAP!!!!!

Just wanted to share this. I also was having trouble with the MMS messages not going through when my phone was set to WiFi. I Googled it, and here I am. I just did what another user suggested and ran my phone in Safe Mode. I tried a couple test MMS messages while on WiFi and in Safe Mode, and they went through just fine. When I restarted my phone after to get it out of Safe Mode, I again tried to do a couple MMS messages on WiFi, and they also went through without a hitch.

I don't know if this necessarily fixed the problem as I did not uninstall any of my apps, as that is a huge hassle. But for right now, it is working. I am not saying this will work for everyone either, as it seems like it is a glitch no matter what as some are experiencing the issue right out of the box. But it may work for some of you. It is worth a try. And again, I just did it about an hour ago, so we will see how long until the problem resurfaces. I can keep you all updated.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and am experiencing this issue as well. After messing around with the network mode and restarting the phone it suddenly decided to receive the message when I toggled wifi.

FYI, this is an issue with android in general. My old phone (motorola droid 3) had this exact same issue and if you do a google search pretty much every android phone on every carrier has this problem. It's an intermittent issue and doesn't affect everyone and seems to randomly resolve itself only to show up again later. This appears to be a problem with the android network stack since I've tried using several different messaging programs with the same results. It might be just me, but it seems to mostly appear when I receive a group mms from someone with an iPhone (granted that's the only time I ever get mms messages so I don't know how it behaves when it receives a message from another android phone).

For any Verizon representatives monitoring this forum, please push this up to someone who can talk to the handset manufacturers and Google to fix this longstanding issue in android. Let them know that a longstanding bug like this with such a basic feature only makes their products look bad, especially considering how dumbphones had this feature for years before smartphones came out.

Hi, all. Was having this same issue and I noticed that those on the forum who were on "global" network mode vs "lte/cdma" weren't having the issue.

I switched to global data mode and restarted phone. The issue has been resolved...for now....keeping fingers crossed.

Go to "settings -> (connections tab) more networks -> mobile networks -> network mode -> global" and then try do a restart.

Take out the battery and blow on it then put it back in? Nothing proposed seems to work here. This is quite an issue you have on your hands here VZW. Please advise.

You (99% of the time) can not send a picture message or a message to multiple people unless you toggle the WIFI off. It has been that way for my Nexus and my S4. My two cubemates have the S3 and they have to as well. It is a known issue. I hate that the companies involved act like there are solutions in the phone settings, resets, or worse sell you a network extender (really what is the point of the big red map if I need a boost to make a call if I am 2 miles from a tower) etc. when everyone from droidlife to XDA know it is a bug they won't fix. Seems like every issue I have had with my Samsungs are news to verizon despite pages of complaints on their own website. I am getting tired of it.

I got my Galaxy 4s phone on the release date and I have never been able to send mms messages with my wifi turned on (even with my 4g data turned on as well) and I would always have to turn off wifi to send group messages. I was fed up with it today and searched Google to find this forum. If your problem sounds similar to mine I may have an easy fix that was previously mentioned.

All I did was I restarted my phone and entered "safe mode" and once I restarted my phone again I could send mms messages without having to toggle out of wifi.

To do this all you need to do is power down your phone and when powering your phone back up you need to tap the touch screen button left of the home button (the clickable button at the bottom of your phone) while your phone is booting up. This will start your phone in safe mode (you will know if you're in safe mode if it says it on the bottom left screen) and after you see the text all you need to do is power back down your phone and start it back up normally.

After doing this I was able to send mms texts without having to turn my wifi off.

Hope my instructions are clear enough so everyone searching this problem will be able to fix it by themselves without having to make a trip to the Verizon store!

Kinda a pain that you have to do this but at least it's fixable without having to get a new phone!!

This is part of a greater issue.

As the verizon reps on this forum have told you, mms messages must go through the mobile network (4g, 3G, etc) not wifi.

I had been wondering why, for example, when I was connected to wifi, but had weak signal I could not browse websites...certainly my 4g would kick in...not the case.

For example, I'd walk out of my condo, into my car and try and use google maps to go somewhere. Well, I had like one bar on wifi, but that's too weak to accomplish anything. So instead of the galaxy 4 realizing this and using 4g as backup, it does not recognize the two at the same time. I believe this is why there always issues with mms and that only solution is to restart.

Another example: when i go to work and want wifi I have to login to a public connection. It will recognize connection but for the connection to allow wifi data transmission I must login with my work username and pass. Well, if I do not login, the phone shows the wifi signal with a ? Make sense. However, again, the s4 does not recognize that I am not truly connected to wifi and it does not default to 4g. So thus, I can't receive email or mms again because the phone is still waiting for wifi to work instead if using 4g as backup, much like the iPhone, my previous phone, did so flawlessly.

I am beginning to think switching from iPhone was dumb.

How people like us, many, have this issue, and someone like me figures out the problem, yet no one from verizon or Samsung have a solution is amazing. They have no problem locking you in to a two year contract for a 700 dollar phone, but when a major bug like this happens their solution is to blame it on a 3rd party app, or ask you for a zip code.

It's a bug with the phone. Fix it! Surely enough people are having the problem where it could be recreated. If you all truly cared it would have been fixed by now in a software update. But you're content cause you get full payments from us every month.

I am also experiencing the same problem. The only thing that worked was shutting off the Wifi. I paid a lot for this service, it needs to be resolved. This is a brand new phone.

Thank you for your response. I am aware of the need to use the 4G

connection and not wifi. The issue involves the device recognizing the need

to switch without disabling the wifi. It seems that many other people are

experiencing the same issue.

I was able to resolve it after restarting my phone. Hopefully this will

take care of it.

Having the same issues. Now i can only send text messages with pics attached. They seem to send just fine. How annoying and how odd. New phone it was working fine how having troubles.

I am having same issue. Have had S4 since June. In the beginning no problem. For the past month or so, possibly since the last update but I'm not entirely sure, cannot send pic messages and cannot respond to group messages. Reading other replies the only thing that just worked was turning wifi off - but I shouldn't have to do that to send a pic msg. And like I said, this hasn't been an issue until about the past month. Really frustrating, hope this gets fixed soon.

How is it possible that this issue has been a major problem FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW (perhaps longer even) and there is still no actual fix? Not even an update as to why this is happening or when we can expect to be able to actually use one of the more basic concepts of this phone? And to top things off there is not even an official attempt at solving this issue. Just the same old, turn the phone off and on again and repeatedly regurgitating the fact that WiFi actually has to be manually disabled. Yes, we know. Verizon, what is being done to solve this problem? It's been MONTHS! This is bordering on ridiculous now at this point.

How bizarre! And you're right, you shouldn't have to turn Wi-Fi off just to send pic and group messages. Given the nature of this issue, I recommend processing a hard reset on your device http://vz.to/176v3fz . Please backup important info, try the reset, test, and keep us updated.

I have no reception whatsoever in and around my house. Despite the fact

that I live within 2 miles of a tower. I know reception indoors can be

difficult... But at that distance? If I leave my house and stand in the

yard my signal just switches randomly from 1x to 3g to 4g until the call

times out .... I have compensated in the past by just sending text

messages. Now I can not even do that.... It started with just mms and

pictures not sending but now any text of length gets rejected... I know

about resets... About safe mode... None if it works.. Between the reception

and 3g etc hand off the phone is unusable

I had been having the exact same issue with my brand new galaxy s4(2 days old now). To send pictures or group texts (MMS messages) you must be connected to your data plan and not wifi. Therefore I started trying to figure out how to make my wifi and data signals toggle with out having to manually turn wifi on and off.

Here's how I solved my problem,

Settings<WiFi<then push the button(bottom left corner of phone, next to your home button), this will bring up a menu with 5 options<click Advanced<"check for Internet service" needs to be checked

This setting allows for your phone to switch from wifi and 4g automatically as needed.

It wasn't until after I re booted my phone that I was then able to send MMS messages while connected to wifi.
