Samsung S7 camera is not working with other apps

The Samsung S7 camera is not working correctly with other apps, such as Filmic Pro and the DJI Go app.  In particular, the focus and exposure lock functions in those apps don't do anything.  I've contacted Filmic's technical support and they said that the issue is that the Verizon S7 did not receive an update that fixed the camera.  Pasted below is the response I got from Filmic. 

Is there an update planned?  I'd really like to be able to use my S7 to produce videos.

Response from Filmic Pro technical support on 12/11/16:

Regarding your findings with exposure and focus. You are using the Verizon version of the Galaxy S7. The S7 (and edge) have more than a dozen variants. We have identified that the Verizon variant has a shortcoming by which the device has not been updated with the carrier collection of fixes for the device since fairly early in the year. The S7's received a bunch of fixes over the summer to resolve a wide range of issues and one area was the camera capabilities. Your S7 is likely still on the earlier codebase for the device and as such the area sampling is not working correctly.

We purchased a verizon S7 just to put it through its paces compared to one of the other variants and have verified that this is still the case up to present day. We honestly do not know why Verizon is holding back sending out fixes for the device but it is affecting many apps in addition to ours.

Samsung is in charge of writing any and all software updates for their devices including the carrier models.
