Samsung galaxy s3 has issues with the touch screen

Touch screen works and then doesn't work with 5 or 10 minutes. Did a factory reset and did not work and couldn't get it to work. Waited a few hours and tried again worked long enough to get through the setup wizard and stopped working again. Tried today but battery was dead so started it on the charger and it started working again. It connected to wifi and there was an operating system update so I let it update to KitKat 4.4.2 and now it hasn't stopped working. Is it possible that the previous version was causing some problem with the touch screen? Previous version was 4.3

There is a strong possibility that the application software may have been causing the issues that you've described. To ensure that this issue doesn't persist, we recommend that you uninstall any unwanted applications on your device in Settings>Application Manager>tap the application>Tap Uninstall. Touch screen stopped working again on Thursday, I had to pull the battery to turn it off and waited a minute before putting the battery back in and booting. That fixed it for Thursday, at least it worked for Thursday. Now today is Friday and it will not work even with a pull the battery replace and boot. Kind of frustrating having a part time phone, really need one that works all the time.

never wet and no damage to phone, it will boot up all the time but you can't use it because the screen will not work at all, the up down volume, the home button and the power button, all physical buttons are the only ones that work. Any time you have to touch the screen for any reason if it is dead it is really dead. Called tech support on Friday July 18 and talked to a Christopher and went through a factory reset and he sent me his email address so I wouldn't have to start over. I emailed him on very early Sunday morning before he started work and told him the phone stopped working again already on late Friday night and on Saturday I couldn't get it working by pulling the battery and rebooting. He said he did not have a problem with sending a replacement phone but I have not heard anything as yet. So I am wondering if he got my email or not, I want to know what is going on at this time.

     Thanks for your help if you can find out anything.

I Think he told me he worked Sunday and Monday and has Tuesday and Wednesday off.
