Service issues since Lollipop

One of the responses from this or another thread on this subject mentions to try changing "Preferred Network Mode" to LTE/CDMA. I did this and then rebooted (didn't work until after the reboot). It seems to have corrected my issue (I did also uninstall some apps I don't rely on but otherwise no other changes). Note that after another reboot the mode seems to have switched back to Global, but the issue has not returned.

Change "Preferred Network Mode" from Settings > More networks > Mobile Networks > Network mode.

Let's take a closer look into this, The_Disturbed1! I use the Note 3 myself and I'm not experiencing these issues. We can try some troubleshooting. First, please power off the device. Then, remove the battery and the SIM card for at least 60 seconds. Then, reattach the SIM card, and the battery, and power the phone back on. Let me know how that goes.

Tried that, got home, and it's still doing the same thing. It works as normal for a bit, but it seems like once it goes a certain amount of time with no service it stops trying.

The_Disturbed1, Thanks for trying these steps with us. Are you experiencing the decrease in signal in your home area or everywhere that you use the phone? Any new cases or screen protectors on your phone? We'll figure this out, for sure.

No new cases or anything like that. The only new thing at all is the Lollipop update. It's not so much that it gets less service, its just that it stops trying to acquire service after it goes so long without it. Once I restart it gets service just fine. I just have to restart to get it to reacquire the signal after so long with out it instead of it automatically getting it back.

Tried the safemode thing. Still won't reacquire signal unless I restart.

So....is this Verizon giving up on the issue? Way to go to offer full support for your device guys. And you wonder why everyone is going to prepaid services.

I have exact same issue. Signal never comes back and have to restart. Nice to have a phone that can't call anyone or receive calls.

Same issue on Note 3 after lollipop upgrade. Lose signal and can only get better restarting.

Your Troubleshooting Assistant doesn't have a category for my problem. I really don't think I will find an answer on this forum. I would just like someone to acknowledge that the update was buggy and Verizon/Google is working on it.

I agree with robm924, the standard steps don't fix the problem and most of us do not want to go through the factory reset route. We just want confirmation that Verizon/Samsung/Google is working on the problem and will provide a fix in the near future. For now, I have to reset my phone every time I enter/leave an area with a weak signal or I will not receive any phone calls, texts, or data.

I'm having the same issue. Researching led me to this board. Also, on occasion I'm receiving a "roaming" status in the top left corner.

I am also having the exact same issue as described by everyone else here. With so my reports this can't be coincidence.

I'm having the same issue. My Samsung Note 3 loses service and the only way I can get it back is to reboot it.

I have this exact same issue. I also have poor signal strength since the update, and my phone will not get back on the mobile network unless I restart it. Previously I could receive phone calls in my house, now I can only do so outside - once I restart. I have an expensive mini tablet now.

Attached is a screen shot of my phone in safe mode. I have had loss of

cellular network connectivity for an hour now. I have not yet done a hard

reset. Isn't safe mode essentially eliminating the same potential

points-of-failure as a hard reset?

I have been experiencing the same issue ever since the Lollipop upgrade was released. I get zero cell reception in my office and have to reboot my phone every time I leave my office to get a data connection. I have tried toggling Airplane mode off and on to no avail. My device is not rooted.

Hey all, I read today (and this makes sense to me) an article that

explained that you should always hard reset your phone when you do an OS

update, which makes sense to me. I always prefer to do clean installs of

new OS's on all my devices. I'll try it and report back.

I've tried the solution provided and the result remains the same. The safe mode workaround worked for about 10 minutes after enabling.

Well it turns out this work around is also flawed. First, even though after setting the network mode to LTE and rebooting the network mode then indicates global, it really isn't global. 2nd, so while this can help you when you need service someplace where you can only get LTE, your service is effectively limited to those area. 3rd, after an extended period with no LTE service the original problem occurs and you can only get service again after rebooting.

So Verizon, where did the support go? No new suggestions or comments from you on this or the other 3 Note 3 Lollipop threads dealing with this same issue for several days now. How many weeks are going to go by with no fixes or acceptable work around before you tell us that you will put someone to work fixing what is now clearly a bug or offer to replace our phones?

I am also having this problem. I don't get a phone or data signal in my office, and when I come out my Note 3 will not reconnect. I also have to restart the phone and then both the phone and data signals reconnect. Pretty sad that this STILL hasn't been resolved.

Maybe they are ignoring this thread now since it is marked as answered? I suggest posting concerns about this issue on one of the (pathetically) many other threads dealing with this same issue that are still open.

Well Im glad this post is still open. I had the same problem and while taking a few days to try their suggestion they closed my post down.

S4, looses signal in my work building and never recovers. Needs reboot. Same as you guys.

Although, testing the last week in LTE/CDMA mode seems to be better. It hasnt locked me out yet, but it doesnt seem like a real solution. I may have just been lucky though during this time and have moved by a window or something that caught enough signal to keep it connected.
