Settings for different email and text message notification sounds

I have tried to set the notification to silent for emails and to a sound for text messages. I can either have sound for both or silent for both even thought I think I am setting them for different sound. I would like to eliminate the email sound (set silent), but keep a text message sound.

Are you changing the notification tone within the specific application for each type of message?

Solved it. I didn't have the email setting on both email accounts on the phone.
