Should I get a case/invisible shield?

Hi everyone. I just switched over to Verizon last night and decided to go with the Samsung Fascinate. So far I love it. One question though, should I buy the case and invisible shield for it, or is it pretty durable if dropped?

Also, what is Verizon's policy for replacing a new phone if broken?

I would buy anything that would protect phone. I personally purchased invisible shield screen protector and clear silicon crystal case. Cases added about 2 mm in thickness but also added extra protection that I can't refuse.

Verizon's replacement policy about damaged phones states that if phone was damaged due to user misuse (say dropped, sat on, water damaged) unless user has a protection plan on the account, replacement will not be given.
