THIS IS ALL SPECULATION on my part and the research I have done... But... The way {please keep your posts courteous} has worked in the past I believe the following reports has made their decision on all of us Galaxy S1 Customers:
(If the link does not work by just clicking on it, right click the link and open in a new tab or window)
If you also have noticed that lately since Froyo was introduced to the Vibrant on 1/21, {please keep your posts courteous} has gone silent about any kind of updates when before that they were saying that they are in the testing mode and such. (A reminder, word has it the only reason why Vibrant got Froyo was due to a class action suit that was filed. I'm not saying that is the right way to go but hey, it worked)
I believe that this has all been a feeble attempt on {please keep your posts courteous} part to fool it's customers so that they could get their product out to over 10 million users, and now they are going to concentrate on the promotion of the Galaxy S2 which will probably have 2.2 or higher. (I don't think they would be stupid enough to put eclair on it). Also for {please keep your posts courteous} to be the first company to put out a phone with Gingerbread (Nexus S) I truly believe that they have the technology to upgrade our Fascinates, they just choose to look at us like red-headed stepchildren.
I will say this, it's really sad. The Galaxy S Line is one of the best lines of phones ever made but they ROYALLY screwed up by not taking care of it's customers and I'm a firm believer in Karma and it will come back to bite them in the tail as word will be out on the street that {please keep your posts courteous} does not update their phones.
Finally Folks, I truly believe that this is NOT, I repeat NOT a Verizon issue. I have seen so many posts about this being Verizon's fault. Nope, this fault lies squarely on{please keep your posts courteous}, and for those who still feel it's Verizon's fault because they told you at the store they were gonna upgrade it in a couple months, then you have been fooled by the almighty Salesman.
I have to say, at least the DL09 Maintenance fix gave me my GPS back so I'm happy for now but I will NEVER EVER purchase another {please keep your posts courteous}Phone. Because they have shown that they care more about money and so much less about it's customers.
So enjoy your Fascinate... with eclair... because you get what you get. (and so did I)
Thanks for your time
Dave Yaeck
Happy Verizon Customer / Aggravated {please keep your posts courteous} Owner

Yup so true a leak of the DL30 was just posted on androidcentral.com, so I am sure VZW will update ti Froyo soon. The way I see it they need to fix any buys or issues before even updating the firmware to Froyo 2.2. If the Froyo nevewr happens on the Fascinate I will complain becuase the VZW rep sold me on the Froyo 2.2 with flash.
I am actually thinken of getting the iPhone 4 threw verizon, at least I get to do more and apple is quick when it comes to updating its firmware, you don't have to wait so long for it, once its out, its out nation wide.

Installed and booting. Below is a list of changed someone posted over at xda and I'll post screenshots in a bit.
whats new:
* Auto rotation 'lock' in notification bar
* Mobile Data option in notification bar (removed 'silent' option?)
* camara is snappier
* no dedicated "samsung widgets" folder (they're in the regular widgets)
* old market, hasnt auto updated yet..??!!
* ability to change fonts
* swype 'double cap' issue appears fixed
* Samsung keyboard specific options?? (i think this is new)
* press "back and power" for screen shots (part of 2.2)
* vibration intensity slider in sound settings
Froyo....yummmm
Google search widget pre-installed. Search soft key defaults to google. Stock browser defaults to Bing for searches in the address bar.
Samsung ditched airplane mode and added Mobile Data and Auto Rotation toggles
SenseUI style preview by pinching your fingers together on the screen. You can also drag and rearrange you home screens also.

lol. I suppose I am a flasher. As for Froyo, there is a slight increase in responsiveness when moving between home screens and in the app drawer and the stock browser feels snappier (with flash set to on-demand). Flash works as advertised. Don't have the media or car docks so I can't test the audio out but some people are reporting that it works with the media dock but still doesn't seem to work with the car dock.
update: scratch the Bing search option in the browser. It actually lets you choose which one you want in the browser settings.

No matter whose "fault" it is... Verizon is the one responsible to satisfy their customers. And if Verizon salespeople have made promises to Fascinate buyers, Verizon needs to stand behind them. An obvious "promise" is that if you buy a dock that only functions when 2.2 is installed...it will be available. As my salesperson said, 'sometime early October'.
Bottom line... Verizon needs to fix this for THEIR customers.

I agree 100% LandlockedPH it is Verizon who is responsible and not Samsung. Samsung might have issues but Verizon should take good care of it's customers.

so, basically, yet another rumor. a rumor people come on here and instantly believe. Americans never change.
and it sounds like they basically changed nothing truly significant in froyo, besides the overrated flash.

yeah, it's more of just little changes and is probably what the Fascinate should've been ~5months ago. The darkened UI is a nice touch. So far my observations are:
- GPS works flawlessly
- no more bing default in browser or search soft key *
- flash
- apps2sd
- adjust system font
- homescreen preview
- vibration intensity toggle
- new text selection in browser (long press for a magnifier, drag to select.) video
- noticeable increase in responsiveness
- app drawer still shows apps in the order they were installed. Not sure why they didn't do alphabetical.
- contacts can be displayed based on first or last name.
- long pressing on the notification bar and dragging to the left/right decreases/increases brightness
* looks like this version may not be fully bloated. Bing nor VZ Navigator are installed which causes the Car Cradle shortcuts not to work.

to be fair, that's not a froyo thing. it's dependent on your launcher.
I think either the speediness of froyo is being severely underplayed here or my eclair install was jacked. I've noticed insanely better performance from screen switching, app loading, page rendering, and benchmark apps that put 2.2 well and above a footnote faster than 2.1
other than continuing GPS lock problems (maybe hardware?), I'm totally drinking the froyo kool-aid and loving it
while I'm here- M91-30, you could use an update. wimax, lte and the like have begrudgingly been accepted as "4G" for awhile now. http://www.itu.int/net/pressoffice/press_releases/2010/48.aspx

I wasn't blaming it on Froyo. It was more of a not sure why they didn't adjust the touchwiz launcher in froyo instead of leaving it the same. They did add the nifty pinch zoom effect to the launcher though as shown below

M91-30 so, basically, yet another rumor. a rumor people come on here and instantly believe. Americans never change.
I have been lurking in this forum for a while now and see these types of replies from the same person again and again. Many of us were hinted to or outright told that Froyo would be coming to the Fascinate by Verizon reps. Many of us experienced the gps issues, mail issues and lock ups to have VZW and Samsung hint that fixes were coming. Cynical people might think that would be to keep subscribers from taking their phones back within the 30 day trial period. It is indeed good for you that you seem to either not had issues with your phone or have another motive for ripping into those who do. I pay good money ON TIME every month for a device and service and expect to get what I pay for including a fully functional phone.
Others in this thread pointed out the leaked update to the original poster. Instead of a reply along the lines of Americans feel entitled (we pay our bills on time), nobody promised anything (wrong) , maybe something constructive to steer the original poster in the right direction is in order.

I think I might just put My fascinate on Ebay and sell the **bleep** thing if they aren't going to have Froyo 2.2 and I will never buy another FN Samsung product. Just bought new TV and was between Samsung and Panasonic well I thought of my phone and bought the Panasonic

I've read numerous comments on other forums by users who have installed the leaked ROM and almost all have commented on the improved speed of their phones with Froyo.
I haven't really seen many comments about battery life -either better or worse- with the update. DL09 hosed my battery life, taking it from around 4 days between charges to about 2 days. I have read that Froyo has been optimized for improving battery life so I'm hoping it will help.

It isn't a huge jump in performance but things definitely seems smoother in general. Battery life the past day and a half that I've been running it have been less than stellar but I've played around with it more so we'll see how it does today. Currently on 90% after 3 hrs of very minimal usage (5-10 emails) which is about on par with pre-froyo for me with everything syncing in the background.

Seems that a new version of Froyo for the Fascinate floating around. Droid-life.com has posted a few photos they've received on their twitter but it hasn't reached the hands of the developers yet. Looks a little more bloated than the DL30 leak so this may be closer to the release build.
