At Verizon, we know it's very important for you to have the latest update for your phone. However, we're not going to give it to you. Or are we? Maybe we will. What will you do for it? How bad do you want it?
mama23dogs, Getting the updates to your device should be seamless, and give you a temporary option to wait to proceed. Eventually your phone will do the update on its own, but you can delay it for a little while. I recommend readung the learn more tab when it comes through for some great info and tips of the new update. They will release it after people have spent the money to buy the S7.
You do not want it! It's buggy. That's been confirmed by a Verizon TS agent.
I got a "bad copy" and it bricked my phone. Verizon had to do a factory update to fix sync problems with Google and Verizon Cloud. 5 days later, I'm still not back to normal.
And, I'm constantly getting a Android.process.acore has stopped error constant after 6.0 Update
And, the Kindle app will not install
And, the Gallery cannot move files between the internal and external SD card. And, the edit function is gone.
Those are the issues I've found so far. The Verizon tech said to wait a few weeks and there should be another update to fix the update.
Shhhh. They want it let them have it. They all say it works awesome and there isn't anything every wrong with updates. Be careful they'll call you a shill or working for Verizon for lying.
We havent even gotten a first update yet let alone a security update since December that brought up to November.
I Thought it would be a few more weeks or months befor the GS6 went to Marshmallow. I mean, we are talking Samsung here - the king of bloat.
But Verizon wants to sell the S7 that was recently released. They are going to withhold the update so people will be "forced" to buy the S7 instead of waiting for any update for the S6. It's all about that money!
IM a sucker for a shiny new gadget, but I am content to wait for software updates that might cork up my phone. I saw the complaints when Marshmallow let loose on LG.
Yeah but isn't that the problem? I mean I don't want to be involved with a company that withholds updates just to drum up sales for the next big thing. Even if we remove the marshmallow update from this conversation, where are my security updates?? This is just pathetic. I'm paying off my contract ASAP and moving on.
the main point i guess is that we as paying customers shouldn't have to deal with this kind of crap.I shouldn't be getting emails saying "oh are you going to upgrade to the s7?? it's sooo awesome!" when i haven't even been properly served with my current s6, which wasn't a cheap "oh what the hey" venture into my wallet.
It was a joke. It's what people complaining about not getting the update generally say, but they don't see the fact... LG updated their devices. Verizon or LG could have delayed to get people to buy the G5 for the latest and greatest. HTC and Verizon could have done the same M10 is going to be announced soon. As those examples shows that the argument that Verizon withholding updates to push out the latest and greatest products starts to fall apart. So it's either Samsung is doing it, or they are still working on the updates and they haven't fulfilled their contractual agreement.
that's not how updates work. samsung releases what they deem to be a suitable update and the carriers then have the chance to adjust it within whatever contract has been signed. Samsung isn't the entity saying "whoa, hold on there, Verizon...no no no, not yet."
Verizon isn't the company delaying the updates. Samsung is responsible for the majority of the delay as they are ones writing the code. Bluetooth, wifi and radio certifications by the manufacturers of those components and FCC take another part. Verizon only plays a small tiny part in the updates.
tiddbits, not to be chidish...but ok yeah...i will be...if you love verizon so much why don't you marry them? i mean think about it, they won't be mad if you cheat on the pre-nup, so long as its done through their apps (no data cap penalty through streams from go90.)
Think for a minute...
All these companies are going to give their proprietary code to carriers to modify. Sorry that isn't happening and manufacturers already said this themselves on multiple occasions.
This isn't about loving the carrier... It's about code... Who controls said code dictates what happens. If manufacturers were so keen to pass out their code there would be leaks of source code by now but that has never happened.
i meant to say ann154, not tidbits in my last post. my bad. even so....if it as you say tid, then why isn't verizon just responding to this thread and saying something to that tune?
also, still doesn't explain the lack of other updates non-marshamallow to the phone....
The update was just released to the carriers on the 19th. Give them a few weeks to test it.
Test it, remove key enhancements, add bloatware, test again. Your notion of a few weeks would be nice, but try a few months to be realistic.
I Would rather wait and get a bug free version than get it now.

are you sure you want that?
I used to work for a router manufacturer, and the number one complaint we received from the end user, note end user not customer, was that the router was missing features that they needed and had ones that they didn't like and "can you please change it" the answer was always that those who purchased it from us chose which features to add or more importantly not add. If you want to order one from us here is our sales team's phone number, minimum order is 50.
And I think the same thing could be said about this. If you don't want the apps and features Verizon adds to your phone you should purchase one directly from Samsung. It costs more, but you wouldn't be sitting here hitting F5 on whichever Android news site you're on hoping to see an announcement that Verizon just released 6.01 for the S6 and S6 Edge.
The unlocked GS6 didn't have marshmallow as of last week and still doesn't have Samsung pay.
if updates are that big a deal, buy a Nexus, Apple or pure edition.
