I apologize in advance for the length. (Have my phone since Christmas 2012, I was on 4.3 update) A week or two ago my phone started to really lag and became slow as hell. I had to actually pull the battery almost every day because my phone would not unfreeze. It even restarted itself a few times. I'm on my own secured wifi which seemed to make it slower. This same routine went on until yesterday. I changed my wifi setting from "always keep wifi on during sleep" to "Turn wifi off only during sleep" as an attempt to make it faster and then guess what? Restarted. This was the second time that day but this time was a bit different. Before the start up, it acted as though it was installing an update. It said "Installing updates to the system." After it came back to the lock screen, I noticed there was a triangle icon in my notification bar. I saw that it read "Unauthorized actions have been detected. Restart your phone to undo any unauthorized changes." Well I thought this was because of the wifi selection in my settings. I changed it back and then restarted it. I got the same notification over and over again after every restart. I decided to just deal with it and go do my errands. During the day I wanted to check the time or make a call or two. Every time I "woke up" my device, it rebooted. It was fine for awhile but when I clicked on my direct call shortcut, it rebooted again. Later when I got home, I went to every forum, community post, verizon post, EVERYTHING and found nothing that pertained to my exact situation. I checked for malware, viruses, invasive apps, my entire phone and nothing was wrong. I did however find a suggestion to clear the cache through pulling the batter and holding the sound, home key, and power button. It actually seemed to work! I checked for any update to the system and found the kitkat 4.4.2 update. Everything went fine!
Until 11:02pm. It restarted, began to lag, started freezing up. It's been on the charger since 3pm and it's only at an 82% charge. Damnit. I really don't know what's wrong. The physical battery is fine (all the x's are there on both the battery and the device) and I know it did not get wet. Oh, I also have it so that only things from the playstore can be downloaded.
I'd really like to avoid a factory reset but if worse comes to worse..
Can this even be attempted to fix?!
