How do I stop these unwanted texts and voice mail without purchasing anything extra? I am not paying a monthly fee to block these things properly. I am upset because this should not be happening.
Did you check to see if the phone number that you want blocked is listed in your phone block list and that the number has a green check mark next to it?
I just blocked my number on my wife phone, called it and it went right to voice mail after second ring. I then sent a text and it went straight to her phone and I read it. So this phone block thing on the S4 only blocks calls and nothing else.
There might be a way to put the block on your voice mail through Verizion. It is strange though that a text would go through when the number is blocked.
PS There are a number of free apps in the play store that claim they do a good job of blocking voice, SMS, and spam. I haven't used any of them as I don't have a need yet.
You can block up to five numbers for free on your My Verizon account online. This blocks calls and text messages. Have you tried that yet?
Unless I'm reading your post wrong, it sounds like you are only blocking the number on your phone.
