Just purchased Samsung Galaxy S4 phone. Text messages are failing. Any idea why?

When I would send a text it would say "text failed". Perhaps things weren't synced up properly when we got the phones. It wasn't working the first day. I haven't had any problems since then. Love the phone, by the way!
This is the same problem I'm having! But it hasn't resolved yet.

I(S3), my wife(S3), and daughter(IP4) have recently started having SMS text message issues also. Many fails. Is something else going on?

I recently got a Samsung S3 and started having message failing problems (along with some connectivity issues). After going through the same steps .. reset the phone, clear the messages, etc.. etc.. I went to a Verizon store where the tech said that they'd had a technical bulletin on the phone and I needed a new SIM card. They said the problems were due to a recent upgrade.
They installed a new SIM card and setup the phone... worked great....
for 3 weeks and now it's doing it again. I don't know if it's the Samsung brand or what, but this is very frustrating.

My S4 is exactly a month old and I just started having the same problem. It's almost always with sending photos. It tries to send it for a few minutes then I get the "Message failed" message. Sometimes it goes through but more often I'm getting failed messages. I have no idea of I'm not getting any as I've read in some other posts but either way this is REALLY annoying and BS too! So Verizon, from many other blogs and forums it sounds like this is a major problem for other people too. What do I do to fix it? And please don't tell me to go buy a new SIM card because I'm not going to go out of my way. You can send me one if that's the solution!

I started having the same issue last week, I have never had issues before. I did update to the latest version which may have something to do with it.

I have not done a hard reset yet and am waiting to see if the problem persists. It has only been an issue when I was in 2 areas and both areas had great coverage. If it happens again I will do a hard reset.

Just bought Samsung S4 mini. Cannot send messages with photos. They keep failing whether I use Verizon network or free wifi. My old, ancient Verizon LG pull out keyboard phone had no problem with this. Verizon help is NOT 24 hours. Only from 8am to 11 pm and that is poor service. I many return phone and cancel 2 year renewal.
I bought the Samsung S4 mini at my local Staples. Today, the young saleswoman called Verizon for me. It seems I had put a block on my mobile account that blocked photo text messages. I remember doing something like this years ago. Still, I had always been able to send and receive all types of messages with my LG Cosmos phone. I guess buying and activating a new phone with same phone # and account on Sunday January 19, 2014, made the old block active. As soon as the block was removed, I was able to send photo messages. Hooray!!!

I'm having the exact same issue with my LG G2. Every text message says message failed. It was going on before I switched to the LG G2 on my HTC Droid DNA also.

You can achieve the same result by using context menu "Restore default settings" in settings of messaging app.
I've had this problem since the day I got this phone..I've now had multiple sim cards replaced 2 new phones, countless factory resets and the problem still exist..after trying many many different test I finally figured out today that it's when I'm synced to WIFI that my text fail..as soon as I unsync from wifi my text will go through..I have no idea how to fix this and neither does Verizon!!!!!

I'm confused. The "fix" for this is to install a custom messaging app from Verizon??
Axel, for what it is worth I have used the VZ texting app and its most convenient if you are also using a tablet. It might be worth a try to see if your texts still fail and that way you can at least rule some things out. If their app works then you know it is something messed up those settings. I had issues too for awhile but they got resolved. Sometimes it was where I was at.
Glad to see this problem still continues with so many users. Of course that is sarcasm. I created a thread on this issue back in Feb with no helpful resolution.
Two months later I still am only able to send one text message. What i have found out that there is a time period that if I wait I'm able to send another. I think the period is around an hr. What I also found, and this may be helpful for those that are powering off/on their phones, is that toggling plane mode usually resets whatever issue is preventing from messages to be sent.
Still no figuring out what root issue is. I'm running latest software. Verizon level 3 tech support cleared all my messages off the switches.
spsuamin We're not glad to see that you are still having issues with text. Since working with our technical support team, have you enabled mobile data and data roaming? Also, have you tried powering off the phone and removing the sim, since the advanced troubleshooting was done on our end? How do I accept the terms and conditions for family locator if I don't have a computer? When I log in from my phone I can't do anything until I accept the terms and conditions but it won't let me scroll down to click accept from my phone !! What can I do?

Ya know, I am have had the same issue since I've had the phone. I try to get a solution and I get a piss poor one. Verizon is absolutely terrible. I have been chatting for the past hour or more with no solution. So Verizon, if I may ask, why don't we have a solution? Why should I pay your outrageous prices to use a piece of shit phone on a piece of shit network? I am absolutely fed up with this issue. You don't know whether it is the phone or the network or whatever is wrong.. I would rate Verizon support a 0 out of 10. Fix this.
Hi, I am new and as of yesterday my text messages are not sending. I have a galaxy s4, I am NOT the account owner and do not have access to the account owner. I am using the verizon text app, not a third party app. My zip is 85212. I have tried many of the suggestion above without doing a hard reset. If I do a hard reset do I lose everything? Help.

Are you able to make/receive phone calls? Is data working properly?
It's highly recommended that you back up your personal data before performing a hard reset. A hard reset will be as if you just received the phone.
Data and wifi are working fine. I have 2 bars on 4G right now.
Are you having difficulty to a particular number or every number? Without account access, it's difficult to say whether someone may have restricted text messaging on your line.

I did receive an error saying text not sent. I was receiving text with no issues. Since I was not able to find a fix I switched apps to Verizon messaging and it is working fine thru this app.
Oh and I did port my number to Verizon in July 2013.
I am having issues when i send image text messages, I get a failed message error a day after i send image text messages and sometimes several days after message is sent, it has happened several times and to different recipients, i have reset my phone several times, everything gets wiped out and sometime after it happens again, this has happened since i purchased my phone. i have a samsung s8 and i use the verizon message+ app. please help
