While overseas, when I try to send a text with my airplane mode in the ON position, it comes back " text will not send until Airplane Mode is turned off". Is this normal?

Airplane mode turns off all communication radios. You would need APM turned off to send a text. Verizon Messages+ can use wifi to send a text, but with Airplane Mode on, nothing comes in or out. You can however, leave airplane mode on and enable wifi by itself though. That is where Hangouts and Vzw Messages+ comes into play.
