The sound notification I applied to text messages does not work. Text messages notify with general notification sound even though settings for text show the sound I want.
Let's get your notifications working correctly ClaySmith. Has this notification setting ever worked correctly on your phone. What make and model phone do you have? Are you attempting to set a third party ringtone or ringtone that came pre-installed with the device?
Thank You,

It seems to work with the Samsung message app but not Version app. Galaxy s6.
Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4G LTE smartphone
ClaySmith, thank you so much for those great details. I want to make sure that we get things set the way you prefer. If you open up your Verizon Message application, tap on the three lines in the upper left, tap on tones, is that selected to the tone that you are wanting to hear when you get a text message? Please keep us posted.

Hi Clay,
I have the exact same issue and I posted a question about this very thing in another thread. Are you trying to do custom text notifications for different contacts using the Message+ app? I have some contacts where the custom tones work, while others do not. On the ones that don't work, I either get the default tone or silence.
I was told by a VZ rep on my thread that the Message+ app doesn't support custom notifications for individual contacts. Big Fail in my opinion - as that seems like a routine feature for any text messaging app. Doesn't explain why the custom tones work for some contacts and not the others, maybe it is just a fluke.
Because of this I switched to the Samsung stock app until the Message+ app gets this feature added to it. You might also want to try Chomp SMS app. It is a 3rd party app, but I used it on my S4 before I upgraded to my new phone. I am also on a Galaxy S6, but mine is an Edge.
Good luck. If it starts working for you or you figure out how to fix the problem, please let me know how you did it!
