Hi - I have not been able to transfer pics from my SD card to my PC via USB. The PC doesn't recognize the phone at all. I do have the Samsung USB drives downloaded on my computer. I was told at a Verizon store that it couldn't be done. He said that will only work if the pics are stored internally, not on the SD card. I had to purchase an SD card reader and will have to remove the SD card, plug it in to the reader and plug that in to my PC. Is this really correct?? Seems like a smart phone would be alot smarter than that!! Thanks for any help!

How strange. Once the USB cable is connected between the phone and computer, it should just be a matter of allowing the drivers to load and then accessing the files via the SCH-1545 icon under Portable Devices in Computer (once you click on the icon, you choose between the phone storage and the SD card). Which OS does your computer have? I know there's been issues with some phones not playing nice with Win 8.

I have Windows Vista. No files show up to be accessed....it's as if the computer does not recognize the phone at all.

Thanks, after trying everything, I believe it's a Vista problem, so I'll keep checking in that direction. But at least now I know it should be able to read the SD card without removing it.

Have you tried changing the USB connection through the phone's notification bar to the MTP connection type?
I was able to see both the internal and the SD card in a Samsung Galaxy S4 with the MTP connection on a Win7-64 bit computer and transfer pictures and music to the SD card.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Try removing the sd card from the phone and read it straight to the computer. That how i do my card and my vista machine picks it up right away as a different drive letter.

Thanks, trying to keep from having to remove the SD card but will have to resort to that until I figure out what the problem is.

I don't have Vista, so I can't answer your question. I recommend you email or call Samsung for help. I have Win8 and when I connected my S4 to my laptop, it installed the appropriate drivers right away and I was able to access my S4 on-board and SD card through File Explorer, as 2 separate drives. I was able to move files off my phone onto the SD card, copy them to my laptop or the backup drive. Not sure if you tried looking for the phone through File Explorer or not. If not, you might try looking there. You may have to change your File Explorer settings to "show all" files, to ensure you are seeing all that you want on the phone and the SD card.
Best wishes!

Thanks. This does tell me that it should work, so I will pursue it further. I'm beginning to think it's a Vista problem.
