I ordered the Note 7 on 10/3 after the "all clear" on the new units. It hasn't even been delivered yet and most carriers are pulling the Note 7 as it's still having the same problems.
When my phone finally arrives what are my options? Go to a Verizon store and exchange it for a different phone? Will they refund the tax difference in the store?

Received the phone and went to the Verizon store. They will NOT accept the returns in the store and claim that the insulated return box will be sent to me. Instead of giving me a refund on the activation/taxes of the Note 7 then charged me again for the S7 Edge, claiming that the funds from the Note 7 will be refunded when the Note 7 is returned.
If Samsung is sending customers directly the return boxes, how will Verizon know to refund?

BLIND_26,
Thank you for reaching out to us here for help. I do apologize that the store you went to refused the return of the Note 7. That should not have happened at all. I’m going to send you a Private Message so that I can gather much needed information to help. Please respond back to me in the Private Message to continue.

Why not just reply so everyone can see the answer as many of us are sure to have the same one. You could reply in generic terms without using particular customer information, surely.

Often it's due to needing more information about your account, such as it's number, so they can look into your issue further. You're always welcome to come back and provide an update on what you found out. For instance, if you went to an authorized dealer and not a corporate store I could see them trying to refuse to take it.
My suggestion is, just return it and keep using your old device. If i learned anything reading these forums, there at the moment is not a comparable phone to the Note 7 and if you use your upgrade and something comes out you want in the next few months, you're still stuck in DPP/Contract.
They will refund you the taxes and I'm sure they will refund any other small fees, it just might take 4 to 8 weeks and might be in the form of an account credit.

Live chat rarely works, always says the representatives are busy. Still waiting on @alicias_vzw
to respond in private chat, but that's been days.
Looks like I'll be sitting on the phone tonight.

With the Note 7 recall it's no surprise they are busy. Best to get on right when they open.

Thank you for your help, MiiHere. I really appreciate everyone’s patience with the Note7 recall process as well as everyone’s feedback so far. We actually have some helpful information at https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/samsung-galaxy-note7-recall-faqs/ . In the section about the Note7 payment agreement, you’ll notice we’ve recently added the confirmation that you’ll be receiving a refund for any taxes or down payments within 1-2 bill cycles. A special recovery box will automatically be sent within 2 weeks of your exchange from the Note7. If you still haven’t received the box after 2 weeks, please reach out to us through one of the alternate contact options at www.vzw.com/contactus (Facebook, Twitter, Live Chat) and we can check on the progress or have a new one expedited to you.
Thank you
