Update 24 (G930VVRS4CRi1) - battery is draining very fast.

Just got this update this morning, and my phone is pretty warm and the battery was dropping about 8% in 30 minutes. I rebooted twice, checked "Better Battery Stats" to see what was amiss, but can't see what's causing it yet. I plugged in after being at 80% after 1.5 hours and it's down to 91% after 40 min. Regular usage...but even before this update it would last much longer than that. Actually, update 23 also caused the battery to drain faster, too...just not this bad.

Anyone else seeing this?

Update: 3 hours 45 minutes since last charge...and I'm down to 40% battery life.

I have been using the phone more trying to figure out what the problem is...and I found that the Google Play Store and Google Play Services were showing a very high percentage of battery usage (in the Android Battery Usage screen).

I went into both in the App Manager and switched them OFF for "allow background activity" and that seems to have slowed the bleeding. I'm going to charge up to 100% again now and see what happens. It appears my battery usage graph no longer shows the graph...not sure why...

settings/notifications....you might be getting all notifications, select which you want.

How do you turn apps off for allowing background activity. The only options I see in the App Manager for any app are 'Force Stop' and "Disable'.

Settings -> Device Maintenance -> Battery -> Battery Usage (button near the top) -> select an app in the list that shows up at the bottom of the screen -> Toggle Switch "Off" for "Allow background activity".

Thanks, these were almost all shut off weeks ago after System Update 23, which was also draining the battery. I only had a few enabled...texts, e-mail, etc. Everything else was off.

It appears that the issue is resolved. Actually, my battery life is extended significantly since shutting off most notifications as well as Google Play and Google Play Service. I may re-enable the Google stuff to see if it drains my battery again, but for now I'm happy that I've gone 9 hours and am down to 40% with 6 hours remaining.
