Update disables email

My Galaxy S5 had a software update a few days ago and now my emails are not being synced unless I manually refresh.

I need to my phone notify of new emails, how do I fix this? I am using inbox by gmail.

I have checked notifications and they are turned on and I cannot find a setting about syncing.

remove gmail, then add gmail.
