Update has destroyed battery life and caused all sorts of charging/app problems

Prior to the update I was thrilled with the S3, not a single issue ever with this phone. As of now I have a very expensive paperweight. It charges no faster than it discharges itself! The battery under normal usage (some web surfing, zero streaming/music/video, a few texts or calls) will last maybe four hours now. On top of that, it will not charge in the phone unless it is entirely off because it is discharging faster than it can charge up. Normal adapter that I have always used with this phone (and I have tried all 10 or so that I have in the house to see if it made a difference - nope). I can leave it on the bedside at night with absolutely nothing on and it will be dead in the morning.
It starts and stops apps randomly, reboots itself a couple of times a day, shuts down without warning at least once per day, and it overheats at odd times - like when nothing is on in particular, suddenly its hot to the touch and I have to disassemble it for fear of the battery exploding. I'm pretty techy and nothing I have looked at, turned on/off, reset or rebooted has helped.
Not happy at all. Is there any idea floating around as to what has caused all of this (obviously the update borked a LOT of people)? Any solution coming down the road soon? I'm happy to wait on something a little while, or roll back to the previous update, whatever, just give me back a working phone please!

I'm experiencing the exact same problems. I absolutely loved my g3 until the recent update. Now I can't rely on my phone at all. It appears to be charging like it should but nothing is happening. I bought a new extended life battery thinking maybe mine was just old. Nope, threw $60 out the window. Same problems still exist. Factory reset-nothing. The one thing I've noticed is the battery % will increase until I get a notification of any kind. After that no increase in %. I need this fixed asap.
