Verizon Message App Won't Send Text Over Wifi?

I have a new Samsung S5 but had the same problem on my old Droid Razr. Where I work we have no cell service at all, but we have highspeed Wifi. Verizon advertises that the Verizon Messages app allows texting over Wifi. I called technical support several times and each time ends with a referral to the mysterious "Engineering Department" which does not speak with me directly to understand the problem. They tell me incorrect information via customer service that the cellular network will not support the Messages app (even though it is over Wifi that I am asking about) and that it is a 3rd party app. They also never respond to a "trouble ticket" and I have no update on the situation unless I call back and wait on hold forever to speak with a rep that is clueless to the situation. Can anyone here help me?

Hmmmm I know for sure that the Verizon Messages app does allow you to send messages over wifi only. However it won't allow you to send pics, vids, or group messages without your data on. I'm not sure if you're trying to send group messages cause you're at work, but if you are then those definitely won't work over just wifi.

I am having the same problem.  It was working fine the other day and now it will not connect over wifi.  And my wifi extender will no longer show.  I live in a place where I depend on the wifi text.  I have tried everything, including re-installing it.  Ideas?

Try uninstalling the App >> followed by a power cycle then reinstall the app see if it gets it going again..

I've done that. Still isn't working.

This is quite baffling, chumsky.
If you have not heard the results of the ticket that was filed, I would be happy to check on it for you. You've already done quite a bit of troubleshooting.

Just an update, for some reason, I clicked on wifi then shut it off with Airplane Mode and turned off Airplane Mode and it started miraculously working. Of course, not any help from Verizon and their rude, uninformed customer service team. What a joke. Thank God it ended up working on its own.

Darn.  I just tried what you did and I can connect to wifi but still won't allow me to text over wifi.  Think I have to default to factory and try again.

Ain't that the berries.. Have you tried the regular text messaging app that comes in app's package on the phone I tried on my phone and had not issue sending over Wi-Fi on my Droid Maxx I'll Download the Verizon messaging app on it and see what happens when I try and send a Text.. but with the regular text app it's fine..

Update: 

Just Downloaded the Verizon Messaging app and sent a Test message to my one m8 had no known issues sending the regular  Text.. as for Picture message have not tried but I don't think that will work.!  but will try any way..

To add to my above.!  I done the test both ways with both apps had no issues sending regular Text, it hard to say why it's not working on your s5 it may just need a system cache performed on it or maybe a Factory Reset.. but hopefully the issue will resolve itself and it starts working for ya..
