Verizon S20 lineup mobile data options (lack there of)

Ever since Verizon push out the update to 5g for the galaxy 20 lineup, there is no way to toggle back to 4g lte. In the mobile setting there is only three options. Global, LTE/CDMA, LTE/GSM/UMTS. I have tried all three options and sometimes it will switch to 4g lte but then switch to the 5g icon on my phone.

The reason I want to continue on 4g LTE is the fact that 5g is way slower than the 4g lte. Sometimes it is crawling slow to single number mps. Disappointed in 5g right now. It seems like Verizon is forcing people to stay on a network and no option to change. Is there a way to change it where I can permanently change to 4g LTE? Or do I have to change to 4g LTE sims?

Once you have the "new and not-so-improved" Verizon Nationwide 5g service on a 5g phone, you are stuck!!! You can't get rid of it. - - I don't know if trying to change the sim card would allow that...I don't think so.

Your only other option, which isn't a great one, is to get a 4G LTE phone and use that instead... sort of defeats the purpose of buying 5g, doesn't it???

I will try to see if I can change the sim to a 4g lte sims. I thought buying a 5g phone from Verizon would be great and see faster speed and it has been terrible, in comparison. I have an unlocked note 20 ultra and it only use lte+ and that speed is a lot faster.

I'm running an unlocked S20 with the 4G SIM out of my old LG V30. 5G isn't ready and I didn't purchase this phone for 5G anyway.

I have the same problem. Phone is useless on the data side when the 5g kicks in. What's the point of unlimited data when you can't use it.

All,

I have found that as a "fix" to slow 5G speeds you can disable it by turning off the "HD Voice" option.

Settings/Connections/Advanced Calling

I have a S20+ 5G and it works.
