Very active screen.

My screen is sensitive while I am on a call.  As soon as I put phone to my ear after dialing it will punch in new numbers, Changes screens and starts things , often will drop calls because so much is going on.  Should screen lock on calls?"

The proximity sensor should turn off the screen while it is near your ear or other portions of your body. Try testing it with your fingers and the phone laying on a flat surface.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

The OP also may want to ensure that they do, indeed, have the phone set to turn the screen off during calls (settings > my device > call > Turn Off Screen During Calls should be checked).

They also may want to ensure that they haven't accidentally turned on High Touch Sensitivity (settings > my device > display > scroll to very bottom and ensure High Touch Sensitivity is unchecked).

That's certainly not normal behavior for such a great phone, Terrielynn. Our friends Ann154 & tikibar1 had some great suggestions, since the phone's proximity sensor should recognize that your phone is against your head and go to a black screen. If the steps they suggested don't work, do you by chance have a screen protector or case on your phone? Were they purchased from Verizon Wireless or Samsung directly, or a 3rd party? I only ask because some of those screen protectors or cases can interfere with the proximity sensor of your phone and create the trouble you've explained. Please keep us posted.

Thank you
