My Galaxy S6+ with Verizon plan has a setting in the phone app called Block Unknown Callers, but I can't find out exactly what that does. The Phone app help doesn't define it, and a search on the Verizon forums just gets information about blocking apps you can buy or special Verizon blocking plans you can buy. But I'm not interested in any of that; I just want to know what the Block Unknown Callers setting on the phone I have does. What are "unknown callers?" Does that mean callers that aren't in my Contacts list, or some other list of callers I have to create, or something else? And if I turn this setting on, what happens when an unknown caller calls? Does the call show up at all on my phone? Does the caller just hear an endless ringing, or does the caller get a message that their call is blocked? Does the blocked call go right to voice mail? If it does, does it go to voice mail with a message that the call is going to voice mail because the call is blocked?
I emphasize that I'm not interested in information about blocking apps or about Verizon Family or other blocking features. I just want to know exactly what the Block Unknown Callers I currently have on my phone does so I can decide if I want to turn it on.
