What's this text box that pops up while I'm typing?

So I updated my wife's Fascinate to 2.2 and now he's freaking out. She's a texting beast and now she's yelling at me about this stupid box that pops up in the center of her screen while typing. Before, suggested words lined the bottom of the screen. Now they are in a blue box centered in the message. How can I turn this off? I tried through language/keyboard and turned off auto-suggest. Any ideas?

It sounds like swype was enabled. In that same keyboard settings menu you should be able to enable a different style keyboard instead.

Bingo! That was it. I love it when upgrades activate things that were never active before.
