The software releases are staggered. The T-Mobile one hasn't been released yet. The source code has been posted which means that theirs should be starting soon. Verizon Wireless has to certify the version of the update for the Verizon branded phones before it is released. It shouldn't be too much longer.

Your N3 is only a Samsung Flagship phone but not really a VZW Flagship. If you want a VZW Flagship you have to use a Droid phone VZW sells and promotes.

By certify you mean stripping all the useful stuff out of it and bloating it up with crapware... right?

That's the problem.

The answer is always we don't know. Maybe we are all tired of hearing we don't or always being last to updates.

Better yet, maybe were tired of asking or logical requests,such as allowing unlimited data plan holders to participate in Verizon Edge. The answer is no to that one too.

That's why I'm thinking about "JUMP"ing ship.

No. VZW will certify it that it doesn't break the network. HTC posted a nice infographic that shows the carriers don't mess with the code itself. Samsung works the same way.

If were a family, then we are a seriously dysfunctional family. You guys do things without regard to your customers opinions. All in the name of chasing excessive amounts of profit.

Once trust is broken, you can not renew it.

First you do away with unlimited data. Your CEO says it's unsustainable. Now, if I use the same amount of data on unlimited or a tiered / shared, how is it unsustainable?

Next you created Share / More Everything which to me was just a means to grab excessive profits while you say the sky is falling, the sky is falling.

What really angered me is you excluded unlimited data plan holders from Verizon Edge. This is something the other carriers did not do.

In closing, I can say that I won't be part of this family much longer. My T-Mobile phones shipped today. I'll have them tomorrow.

As of today T-Mobile got the KK update, and here we are. I RAN from Sprint as soon as I could and they were the first to get the KK update for this device. Still glad I switched even if we will be the last to get the update.

I have read that Sprint customers are having some issues with the KK update! I have only read so far of about 6 customers so I would guess there are more. they have also been having issues with KK update on phones in Europe. So user beware with your updates if we ever get them from VZW.

I was at Best Buy today, stopped in to see the Samsung Rep about Polaris 5 not syncing thru cloud service (nope it really doesn't)

He put Kit Kat on my phone.

Runs fast and no extra battery drain noticed.

Downloaded Another App and put Polaris in the Bloatware heap.

I would like to know what problems Sprint customers are having with Kit Kat? I hadn't seen anything on Google about it.

As for the international community, the only thing I remember reading about was Kit Kat seemed to inhibit non Samsung smart covers made by the likes of Incipio and Seidio from working.

Look over in the forums at androidcentral.com so far only a handful but I am sure there are more. If you don't find them let me know. Don't just look in the Sprint forums.

You have all other major carriers pushing KitKat to their Note 3's. Even people overseas are getting the push. The ones of us here on VZW have to sit and wait...and wait...and wait while we get fed full of the usual "It's coming soon" "We have no information on that" "We don't know".

I can tell you that SOMEONE at VZW knows. It can't be some dark kept secret on when they are planning on releasing it...if ever. One of the main factors of getting my Note 3 was that it was in line for KitKat.

As far as bloatware..Yeah VZW fills every single one of their phones with as much useless bloatware as possible. I root my phones every time just so I can get my phone running at the performance I expect. If it was Samsung putting all this bloatware on then it would be the same bloatware on every carrier's version. But it isn't. And you can't uninstall it unless you root. Putting the bloatware on there is fine, but give us an option to uninstall it if we want. It is OUR phone. VZW shouldn't have to dictate how we use OUR phones.

Basically someone needs to give us a release date and stop trying to BS us with how great customer support and coverage is to try to distract us away from the real answers we deserve.

The worst part about all of this is the S4, from other carriers, have been getting the update. Here is a device that is over a year old and the S5 is weeks from launch, and here we are with the flagship device and last on the list for the OTA and keeping it's customers happy.

Quick question, why you you need KitKat so bad? What features are on KitKat that are not on Jellybean that you have to have?

Just a side note not directed to you specifically, but everybody wants the latest and greatest OS yet none of them have any reason to get it.......most don't even know what will be included and how it will benefit them.

You guys are starting to sound like Apple customers, wanting the latest and greatest without realizing the past 3 models/updates have been the exact same

Well!

I've flashed three Kindle Fires (1 original, 2 HD) to KitKat and they've gotten new leases on life. KitKat has performance tweaks, support more options/features, optimizes certain video drivers etc etc.

With my old Razr, going from Gingerbread Sandwich to JellyBean was like getting a new phone.. then that latest patch came out and ruined that.... but I digress.

KitKat solves some issues that some folks have been dealing with for some time. Good enough?

Wow. So much animosity over the lateness of a freaking update which will come when it is ready. While it is true that Verizon has in the past released updates that were disastrous, I don't think this has been the case overall. I've been a cell phone user since 1989. I have been with every carrier in the U.S. And while Verizon does have it's problems, they are far and away still the best network out there.

I've read on this forum that Verizon craps out their phones to make way for Verizon bloatware. It seems to me that they all have their version of bloatware. Motorola throws it in there, HTC, Samsung, all the carriers seem to do it. I find the Verizon apps unobtrusive and out of the way really. They are there if I want to use/subscribe to them or I can simply throw them all in a folder and put them out of the way. On my phone those apps take up an infinitesimal amount of space.

To trash them about all the other problems that have nothing to do with an update in infantile and immature in my opinion. Sorry, I do believe I am entitled to my opinion.

I find my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and exceptional phone, even without the update. When the update comes as I'm sure it will, I will probably wait to see what it breaks if anything at all.
I think that if life is absolutely unbearable for those that don't get this update soon enough, they should consider jail-breaking/rooting their phone and flash KitKat on there on their own. It's out there and many people are doing it. In fact, you can even leave out the pesky Verizon bloatware. Another alternative is to go with the flailing T-Mobile or the unreliable Sprint Network or even AT&T (good luck with these guys!!). In the end, for me at least, it is vastly more important to be on a network that has a strong signal in all the places I travel than to be first to get an update that may or may not work out of the gate.

I seriously doubt the folks at Verizon are sitting around making evil plans to intentionally frustrate and vex their customers by holding back an update. Seriously, if you really think that's the case, then why stick around and allow yourselves to get bullied by Big Red. You have choices.

My pros far outweigh my list of cons when it comes to Verizon so I'm not going to become unglued when some update is not first out of the gate for a phone that is already exceptional without it.

That would be true if that update had just came out the other day.

The fact is, the truth is, KitKat (4.4) came Oct. 31, 2013. What's that, 4 months?

I'll presume, not assume, that the Verizon employees responsible for giving the latest update the green light, work 8 hrs a day 5 days a week. That's 40 hrs a week. Though not always, there's usually 4 weeks in a month. That comes out to 160 hrs a month.

Either those particular Verizon employee are lazy or inept, or both.

I spoke at length with a Samsung rep today, and the words "Verizon adjusting features that they see fit" and the words "removal of Data Tethering" and "removal of Tabbed view of Settings" seemed to make their way to light.Classic move.

It's ridiculous that still there is no information when the note 3 from Verizon will get its kitkat update, even the note 3 from AT&T is already listed on the samsung mobile website as having kitkat which is a sign that the rolled out is near but verizon nowhere to be found, This means that all of the samsung flagships phones from the 3 other major carrier in the us will be running the latest 4.4 kitkat software update except for the ones on the largest carrier, very dissapointing

Well, when it finally gets here, I'd like to think that Verizon was busy making sure the update is PERFECT and there are NO ISSUES. It would be a real damn shame if this gets released with bugs after all this time.

Did Verizon say this or did you read it somewhere else? if this turns out to be true I'm done with Verizon. They jerked me around every department they have! Tech support, local sales store, Their Customer Service Dept. is always so eager to help when on the phone but they never follow through when they claim "You got a dedicated Service Rep and I will get this matter resolved for you" three months later and after I personally went to a manager at a Verizon Corp. store I FINALLY got my $100.00 credit that was taking 6 months to process. I stay because I have Unlimited Data and they have great coverage for my area but AT&T and Sprint are just as good signal wise around here AND I never use more then 3GB of Data and thanks to Xfinity I can access Wireless almost anywhere around me SO I think ill take a shot at anything but T-Mobile.

Well don't look now BUT not only is our "Flagship" S4 behind all the other US carriers. BUT We are going to be TWO (yes 2) versions behind soon.

We are at 4.3 and we are begging to get to 4.4.2 since everyone else already has it.

Some of the other carriers are starting to talk about 4.4.3 release soon

Everybody is just probably guessing based on past update releases by

Verizon. Ultimately, only Vetizon knows, maybe.

I honestly don't think it's that much of a priority for them.

How many customers they may loose because of things like this is just small

collateral damage in the end. If it really hurt them things would be

different but it doesn't and it isn't.

Most companies, if not all are in business for one reason, to make money.

To do that they have to keep you as a customer by competing with the other

carriers that want you as a customer too. I don't think they really care

about us, they just don't want us to go elsewhere so the competition

creates an atmosphere of offerings designed to keep you. That is as far as

it goes. We as consumers benefit from such competition because we have

choices.

They know that in the end, timely software updates doesn't even come close

to keeping customers than pricing and coverage which is probably the real

focus and priority. More people stay or leave based on these 2 things more

than anything else. In my opinion, coverage with "reasonable" pricing is

probably the most important and nobody bests Verizon here. Being last to

push out an occasional update is just not that important to them within the

grand scheme of things. Just my opinion.

Just a thought / theory - Its evident they have no plans on releasing the 4.4 update on anything Samsung outside of selling the new S5. Being that they have committed to shipping x amount of units, and have opted to not provide the update to other Samsung phones, it stinks of money. Making sure you can sell the amount of ordered S5 units with their 4.4 software pre-loaded, marks that they know the software works fine on their network. Seeing as how they will have to move the number of units committed to, they don't want to miss out on the market share, and also want to claim the most unique users attracted to buying the S5 from Verizon. They will see that the Note 3 and other Samsung phone sales are lagging without the software update and will eventually offer the update on these phones to move them off their deck before serious devaluation.

What Verizon posted on Samsung Galaxy S 5: How Does It Compare to the S III and S 4? is just really bad ethical practice when every other carrier has the 4.4 update. They are promoting their new phone because it has 4.4, purposefully withholding it from us.

Verizon Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update coming on May 2

I heard is was going out May 2 along with KitKat for the S4.

Like most posting here, I like to have the latest and greatest OS on my phones. HOWEVER, after reading multiple posts on the Moto forum site (Ultra, Maxx, Moto X and a couple of others) as well as that for the recently released KitKat for LGG2, I am not sure why anyone would even want this update. Battery issues, Email issues, texting issues, exchange server issues, loss of some SD card functionality, and reboots...just to mention a few. I would prefer to have a phone that works great on 4.3 than a phone that may or may not work as good on 4.4.2. Again, I understand everybody wanting OS upgrades, I like them too, but with all the issues being reported with 4.4.2 (across multiple phones and multiple carriers), why would anyone want this update.

Since 4.4.3 is out and about, hoping Verizon skips 4.4.2 and just moves on to 4.4.3.

Can Verizon support at least be able to confirm that this release date is true and will include the Galaxy Note 3? The Note 3 is an awesome device that deserves to get timely software updates (it should have been the first to get KitKat 4.4.2 and should be the first to get Android 4.5 or 5.0). Android 4.5 or 5.0 is being worked on right now and is due to be released sometime in Q3 or Q4 of this year. Lets not fall 2 updates behind!

it's 4/25 at this point Verizon is too far behind to even care when they will release this update because either way they behind!!! i know they gonna probably try and save face by releasing 4.4.3 instead of 4.4.2.... a lot of loyal customers are officially at the last straw with Verizon lack of communication with its customers.

This is more than unsettling, as the S4 is nearly a year old, and has the update, but a phone released in October 2013 does not. How does that make any sense? Good news for the S4 crowd, yet this makes no sense, as they typically update newer phones first. I cant begin to understand why they have been silent, and why they continue to make moves like this that only enfuriate the die-hard hardware users. I have had countless phones on Verizon, and am currently on my 3rd Note 3, due to the technical issues it has had. I've been holding out hope for this update, but this is getting rather ridiculous.

What's even more unsettling is the note2 4.4.2 update is set to start rolling out. the fact that the note 2 may update before the note 3. smh!!!

Come Wednesday, I won't have to worry about this anymore, as I will be moving to Sprint. My final straw came today, with the charging issues many have seen on their Note 3. I was told that I will have to send the USB 3 data/charging cable out to Samsung (postage paid by Samsung) and wait approximately 2 weeks for them to intake, test, and send out a replacement charger. The sheer fact that Verizon will not replace the cable at will, and is pushing customers over to Samsung as it is considered a warranty replacement that they cannot handle in stores, is absurd. Almost 15 years, Verizon. Countless refurb phones over the last 4 years, with no satisfaction.

Is your note 3 the white or rose gold note 3 by chance? My wife's rose gold note 3 doesn't charge with the oem supplied Samsung charger. She keeps getting the slow charging message to use the charger that came with it. This is the second 3.0 USB cable she's used from the Note 3 and she still gets that. Could be a problem with the white and rose gold ones as I've heard frog others with them. Mine is the black one and it works just fine.

Jmuscol1, today is a new day. This 15 year wireless relationship is important to us and we want to work this out. Are you having issues with the charging cable that came with your phone or did you purchase that cable as an additional accessory?

Wow wow wow.... The S3 is seriously getting an update today? Build vrucnc1? What garbage is this? So newer phones and much older phones are going to get updates before the Note 3 does? This is ABSURD!! The DNA got one? Who else needs an update before you push out the Note 3 update? Droid Charge? Nexus? Somebody at Verizon headquarters has lost their mind and priorities. Someone or lots of people in the Verizon engineering and quality assurance department has also been slacking on the Note 3. Maybe it's time to fire these "employees" and hire on a few from the Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T and US Cellular Networks so they can show those guys how to get a now 6 month old OS out to a late 2013 "Flagship" device. They've all managed to get the same KitKat OS out to their Note 3's in a respectable time and have their priorities straight.

Under Jelly Bean, Google Wallet (NFC) Tap&Pay was disabled by Verizon, at

least on this phone. This is a documented fact. I guess they didn't like

anything to compete with its own "Google Wallet" type app ISIS. In KitKat

no such restriction exists. I wonder if this is what's holding this up.

Yep, Verizon cell service is the best, but their customer and developer service is lacking. KitKat is 6 months old, if not older and the launch of Android 4.5 / 5.0 is already in the works. Verizon is treating the Galaxy Note 3 like a paper weight instead of a top notch $700-$800 device. They did the same thing almost 3 years ago with the Samsung Droid Charge by keeping it on Fro-Yo for many months after 2.3 Gingerbread came out. Verizon must have an issue with Samsung because if it was the Motorola Droid series, the updates are almost immediate.

Odd how things work out...

When Ellen DeGeneres did that Oscar selfie (dumb word), price on the Note 3 went up 33% overnight, pricing me out of the market. So I went to Staples and got two S4's for 2 cents (Verizon wanted $99 each) -> which btw got 4.4.2 a couple of weeks ago.

The working out: By the time Verizon gets KitKat on the Note 3, the price will be much, much lower. Good, kids get the S4's and wife and I will have the Note's soon(ish)

They are actually slashing the price on the Note 3 just in time for Mother's Day. Verizon Slashes $100 Off Premium Phones for Mother’s Day: $99 for One (M8) and Galaxy S5, $199 for Note 3 | Droid Life. This would also be the perfect time to release KitKat for the Note 3, wouldn't Verizon?

Good Luck with getting KitKat update and here is hoping your phone will work as my phone worked after the VZW KitKat update. Many Many customers are having issues after the KitKat update by VZW. Many are even saying their phone don't work at all. I do hope you end up with a working phone when VZW is though with your update to KitKat.

I don't agree with some of the latest responses. It has already been said that we will get the update. So, with so many people asking, it is very poor customer support to not get a response. Even if they came on and said "we're having trouble with compatibility with certain devices and working hard to provide a clean update for everyone", that would at least let customers know that we're not being ignored. Don't get me wrong - I know they're working on it, but the lack of response is bad. Even better would be some word on when we might expect the release. Of course, if they didn't meet the time, that would not be ideal, but really, I think it would go miles just to have one employee put some time into addressing customer concerns. I think a lot of people would feel much better if they were just being kept in the loop and felt like Verizon cared about what we want. I know for myself, it's really just one new app in KitKat that I care about. All the rest doesn't make a big deal to me. But, that one app is something I have been very anxious to get going with for quite some time now.

Here're a few things to thing about while waiting for the update. VZ is a service provider, with the service being wireless and wired telecommunications. The phones they sell are to get you to subscribe to their service. They really don't care which one you buy, because while they make money per phone, they make way more money in subscriptions. The ones who care are Apple, Samsung, Moto, LG, etc,. As a service provider, VZ cares first about the network, second about the network and third the network then the device. True, they shouldn't p*** you off about information for your device (it's bad business) but they don't care much. Will they lose a few subscribers over this, yes. But they would lose more if the network went down. Sometimes big is better, but better doesn't always mean fast. VZ's track record for last to push OTA updates and declining customer service is well known. They do have the most coverage, but others are catching up. So what does this all mean? Contact Samsung and tell them the lack of 4.4 is stooping you from buying additional gear. They have more pull and lost sales are always a good motivator.

Verizon may be one of the worst companies to their own customers. I pay $700 for my phone to stay and they are still last to update it.

I paid full price so I could keep my unlimited data. I use 10-12 gb mostly for Google Music all access. I'm order to use my favorite service I would need to pay an extra $50 for 10 gb a month; that's $1200 over 2 years to commit to paying them for service for 2 years. Paying full price for my phone still saves me $700 over 2 years.

To any VW rep: does the company assume customers can't do math? How can they insult our intelligence like that? That is the biggest middle finger to a customer over 10 years. The heads of the company should be ashamed of themselves. In a year I will most likely sell my note 3 and leave to a company that actually speaks to their customers ad if they have a brain.

I've also been told my reps that if I use that much data I "must be doing something I'm not supposed to." Another insult. They know nothing about me and my phone usage. Disgusting.

At the very least release the updates in a timely fashion.

A very bird (removed) to Verizon, Samsung and Andriod and forget this update. The fact that my little brother is sitting here with 4.4.2 on his sprint GS3 is really making me Incredible Hulk mad. Lol. And he is going in and I can't even defend my service provider actions in this matter. All I can say it well our service better. Lol

You have a right to be upset. Contractually, Verizon is not ultimately

responsible to provide timely updates. They actually suck at that.

However, when many, many loyal customers are making inquiries, it is bad

customer service to ignore their inquiries completely.

Unfortunately, there are some on this forum who disagree with this and have

decided that ignoring customer inquiries and being treated like dirt is

acceptable behavior.

Hey, I don't even want this update. I know of too many people who are

having problems post update. NOT THE POINT.

Verizon's failure to ignore loyal customer inquiries on the subject is

Still waiting on my Note 3 update as well, I clearly made a mistake selecting Verizon as the carrier for my development studio as they do nothing but treat their customers like dirt. Not only do they treat their customers like dirt but choosing them as a service provider for my development studio was a horrible choice, new android update comes out? well our customers have to wait OVER SIX MONTHS before we can really have solid support for that OS because Verizon withholds updates like they're contaminated.

In a few months I'll make the best decision I've made and throw all five of my Verizon lines out and go to a real carrier that actually cares.

It's clear Verizon's care and support for new customers far exceeds it care for current customers. It's been the same for me since the G-nexus it's like the hold a update, release a new device with that update and lure you back into a 2 year trap just to have the latest OS. The got me with that with the S3 then I got the Note 3 and it's the same thing. My 2 years up now they loading my email with S5 offers. (Not happenin)

Well what makes consumers so angry is all the mixed signals Vzw is sending out! You only get to talk to CS rep's that aren't up on what's going on or either they aren't able to elaborate on it. (removed) my friend. If there's an issue with it, I'd rather hear that and then I would know that the "Company" cares enough to send out something error free and bug free. That I'm sure would be easier to swallow than that dead (removed) silence they've been giving out. They have plenty of that to go around as we can see.

This waiting and waiting and waiting is getting old. Every day I check for the update and read everything I can to see if anyone has gotten the OTA. My bluetooth is spotty at best, wifi doesn't work correctly anymore, charger doesn't work (did an exchange for a standard charger at the store), signal strength is very poor (tower is less than a mile away), GPS is inaccurate and wonky, and a few features just don't want to work (lots of force closes). I've factory reset, changed SIM cards, no luck. Was hoping to get 4.4 soon as the bug fixes are major. Keeping customers in the dark is a bad business practice. Any clue on the status of the update with truth behind it is much better than what we are getting from Verizon as of now which is nothing. Furthermore, my Samsung Note 10.1 2012 is stuck on 4.1.2 which has a security flaw and I refuse to use it until it's updated (heartbleed bug). We spend so much money on a premium service and get left in the dark. Rant over.

WOW! this is highly interesting, as well as very suspicious. There was a discussion that was started on this same forum, with the following topic, NOTE3 4.4 KITKAT UPDATE, and it's been locked down, (discussion of moderation removed as required by Verizon Wireless Terms of Service) All we wanted to know is why the Note 3 hasn't received the KitKat 4.4, and when are we going to get it, and it seems Verizon is avoiding answering this question, and why?

Verizon is a joke when it comes to updates. I paid full retail price for my note 3. To be treated like this having to wait well beyond a reasonable amount of time to get the software updated is completely unacceptable. Verizon loves to take your money but they have a real problem when it comes to support and keeping you up to date with software upgrades. It really makes me mad because those updates are good for you me and everybody. I don't know a happy Verizon customer, but this is the final straw as soon as my contract is up I'm out. I'll sell my note 3 online and I'll go ahead and buy another one or wait for the note 4 to come out and go that route. Verizon you are despicable. Money hungry and you have lost your vision you've managed to take unlimited data away from just about everybody and its for nothing but pure greed. Who can actually use a smartphone and get by with two gigabytes of data every month? I know I can thank God I'm close to wifi 85 percent of the time. If I wasn't I'd be going over all the time. How come people don't revolt or just cancel their service with Verizon. I don't see one good attribute to showing any loyalty to Verizon anymore. I've had a problem with my phone but I refuse to take it in and have it replaced because I don't want one of their loser refurbished phones I've done that too many times. And over 50 percent of the time I get screwed with a crappy phone. You know Mr Verizon I spent over $700 for this phone and you don't even have the common courtesy to keep it updated you continually put out crappy phones now and you are not at all priced fairly or competitively with the rest of the market. So for that fact alone I'm out of here as soon as I can. Verizon kiss my butt. And do that while walking out the door. if the update finally comes out and it's simply 4.4.2 that would be an absolute disgrace on your part. LOL, Verizon is stuck about 10 years into the past when it comes to data usage. Streaming just about 20 minutes of video can consume around 250-500 MB and if it is a live video feed, then you could easily double that in data. Their best data plans were "double the data for the same price" and of course unlimited data, but now they offer none of those deals and assumes that everyone uses only 2 GB a month. I'd say about 5-7 GB a month is average for today's standards, not 2. I can see that they just want to charge top dollar for their data plans.

Well, when my cable goes down, my cable company goes out of its way to make sure that their customers are kept happy for an inconvenience, which they are not responsible for, and so they have given me a paid channel to watch for free for a few day's, or made a reduction in my cable bill, but they did something. Verizon, what are you doing to promote customer satisfaction?

Don't let that cable company get away cause every cable company I have dealt with it just about the same as VZW is with their existing customers. The only time they care is when you are a new customer or when you have to call the disconnection specialist to disconnect and by that time it is to late cause you have someone else already for the service they once provided. I have used several cable companies in several different locations and I found them to be more alike than different with their customers.

Im enjoying being on current software with unlimited data. I took 4 lines

and ported them away from Verizon, after being a 15 year customer. Clearly

my money and loyalty didnt matter.

Like QNote3 mentioned in his reply, they don't care. (discussion of moderation removed) so what does that tell you? I think you need to ask yourself, what is more important, better coverage, or 100% customer satisfaction. I am sorry, right now it doesn't look as if you going to get both, which we would love to have, and what we pay for.
