Where is our Advanced Calling 1.0?

Verizon needs to stop dragging their feet with the release of the software patch that will give us VOLTE.

the reality is software from the Google Play Store can ready effectively emulate AC 1.0.

You can get any number of VOIP phone dialers, but my favorites are Vonage, Skype, Google Voice & Viber.

For Video Calling, I currently use IMO between my Note 4 & my wife's iPhone 6. It's the closest thing I've seen to Apples Facetime.

Do Verizon, what gives?

Why are you giving the GNote 4, the love that it deserves.

There's a vast difference between those and the services you listed. It uses your own number and uses the carriers backbone as a fallback. Something the others don't do. I know that AC1.0 people are waiting for(Myself included, and or state is probably one of the last to see this), but It's not all that easy as flipping a switch and uploading something to make it work. I'd rather have them do it right the first time than do it quickly had things don't work right...

Looking at T-Mobile for my personal line for example. I dislike the fact when I call it'll ring twice and that's it. Even when receiving calls. I turn off VoLTE the problem goes away(doesn't matter which device I use).

VOLTE is going to use 4G LTE just like the listed services I mentioned. If you look at the listing for IMO, it even says make video calls over 4G. AC 1.0 video calls are going to do the same thing.

Also, VOLTE is not using the carrier backbone. My understanding is its 4G or nothing. If you fall out of a 4G coverage area, calls will drop. The way I see it, if Verizon designed it to fall back to CDMA or 1x when outside 4G coverage (even if just briefly), then that would be the carrier backbone.

What you are talking about is WiFi calling, and YES it still uses the carriers backbone. How else do you think your personal number is used. It will use a internet connection to connect to their backbone and then forward the call through their network to whomever you are calling. It doesn't use your internet providers backbone. It's no different than what T-Mobile has been doing for years. The reason why it doesn't hand off it because it turns off the radio to save battery and often 99% of the time if you have poor coverage you generally go out of range of a wifi before gaining connection outside or there would be no point in using wifi calling. UMA is what you are looking for which is done via hardware, and does handoffs, but it works completely differently because of the hardware. It eats up battery as it has all networks running. I used to run with a lot of BB with them when it was popular.

VoLTE is also using their backbone. It's their LTE network.

I just read that Verizon is in the process of finally launching the long delayed Note Edge.

However, what's really troubling is their launching the Edge with Advanced Calling 1.0 pre-installed.

Come on Verizon, your Note 4 faithful have waited since it's October launch for AC 1.0...

why did you turn your back on us and disrespect us in this manner?
