Even IF the rollout of the maintenance release starts today, it'll be a staggered release across multiple days. Verizon isn't going to magically snap their fingers and put it on all phones.

Besides all this, please show me where the official notice is that there is even an update coming today. All I've seen are screenshots of verizon employee monitors that suggest an MR is supposed to come today. This doesn't account for failures noted late in software testing or other delays.

Over the Air blows. Yes it's convenient, but I would prefer to download and flash from my computer. It seems in Europe they have Keis. I really believe the decision to delay the flash was caused by the product demo at CES 2011.
I stopped over at XDA Developers and no one is stating they have the official release. It would be cool if we received 2.3 Gingerbread vice 2.2 Froyo. Beggars can't be choosers. I will be happy if the GPS works faster. I had HTC products before and liked the QuickGPS program.
I will say this....i will never get the iPhone.
Just a Thought.

Mssurviver I dont want Iphone myself because with Verizon putting in what they want it will be the same as this phone the Fascinate and the other Droids. It was a big deal when AT&T came out with it couple yeras ago but now with the Android phones it is nothing great anymore. Just my opinion

That's the one thing good about apple. If it comes to Verizon, it'll be on Apple's terms and most likely won't be bloated to where it's about to explode. That said, I never have and never will have any interest in it.

wow, here's a surprise. someone started a RUMOR about a release date, and now people are taking it to heart and getting all huffy and puffy when it doesn't come out.

There IS a fix available just not currently from Verizon. The Jan 10th date has been thrown around based on a supposed leaked sheet from Verizon but they haven't "officially" acknowledged it afaik. If you can't wait, a trip to xda-developers.com and about 15min will get you the fix you're looking for (just not Froyo).

everyone gets so bent out of shape on here when rumors don't come to fruition, and they blame verizon. the people on this site are {please keep your posts courteous}when rumors get spread around.

M91 All we have is rumors because Verizon and or Samsung do not care enough about existing customers to provide information about a phone that they sell and support that has had deficiencies since day one. They have not sent out fixes for the known issues nor have they apologized for the delay and explained that they are working to get a fix at the minimum out for our phones. For Gods sake there is Froyo, Gingerbread and Honeycomb out and we are on eclair with GPS and headphone jack issues.
Unfortunately we as neglected customers will continue to have to rely on rumors and in the mean time you may need a woman. You are on a forum blowin people up who just want a fix and or update for there phone that is four + months overdue. Stop hater these people just want there phone to work as advertised, and are well within there right to complain about the lack of service they are getting. Just as you are within your rights to defend verizon but maybe you should hate a little less or try match.com.

I was eagerly awaiting the Samsung Fascinate until I started reading about the GPS problems on the other Galaxy S devices. I also read that Samsung was a bit on the slow side of putting out upgrades. I stopped waiting and bought something else. I would have been very upset with myself had I waited for the Fascinate just to find out that all of the problems I read about were true.
It is extremely rare for me to buy any type of electronic equipment without doing lots of reading from actual users.
You guys are saying Samsung put out the upgrade and Verizon is holding it back. Lets say that's true. Verizon would have to put the upgrade through their own testing to make sure it works well enough to roll it out to their customers.
I don't think any of you would happier if they gave you the upgrade without testing, and it caused more harm than good.

Verizon could at least do like US Cellular. They recently announced the Mesmerize would be getting Froyo in March. Still 2 months down the road but at least they know.

I agree that we would not be happy if they provided an OTA update that was not good or caused problems. However a little customer service goes along way how about coming out and saying something like we (verizon) have been more concerned with releasing the iphone and acquiring new customers we do realize that we are months behind on releasing an update and or fix and we do know that your phones are two operating systems behind. We are sorry for this inconvenience and we will work hard after Jan 11 when our new iphone is released to update your phones by mid February. We would still be upset but atleast we would know when our phones would be expected to work as advertised.
A little customer service and good communication goes along way, instead when we call and ask about a fix or an update we get the following answer. There is no scheduled update release date and we do not have an ETA on its arrival. Wow I feel better knowing that Samsung and Verizon are so knowledgeable about their products.

It did technically violate the TOS of the forum though but it was rather amusing that it happened.

I thought it was a great comment. Apparently VZW did not. Oh well, to each their own. It's not our fault they can't run a respectable company.
