Come on Verizon, give us a date!! I know you just want to sell your previous RAZR and Rezound but no one wants that bloated crapware you put on the phones. Stop stalling and just tell us when the G-Nexus is coming out already!!
All I can say is Ditto!!!!!!!!!!!! If it was not for the network I would have been gladly on the Galaxy SII bandwagon on any of the other carriers. I don't see ever leaving for ATT but if Sprint does their planned rapid rollout of their LTE network my next contract on my business lines could see a move. Who knows in 2 years ATT's snail pace expansion may be complete.
I keep picturing a bunch of fat 70 year old guys with tophats smokin cigars looking down from a really tall building and sayin "Lets hold it a few more weeks..." ... So the euros have it now and the dang Canadians have even beat us to the punch with preorders today and a release on December 8th... I went to a VZW store earlier today to inquire, and 3 employees jumped in overtalking each other with the same anwser, "we dont have any idea when it will be released" .. kinda funny and lousy at the same time.. People dont realize its not all about the hardware, its about timely updates from Google that will make this phone great...

I'm still using my og droid, that is falling apart, the keys on the keyboard are popping off from being used for 2 years. I've been waitng for this phone since july had an upgrade for 3 months now passing on bionic, razr, rezound, incredible 2, droid 3, etc.
Razr won't even get ICS till may or june at earliest, from my experience of owning motorola with updates happening 4-6 months later so motorla can mess them up enough for their phones.
Now the date is December 8th for the Nexus, or sometime in december, says droid life and phandroid.
Apparently google has released a statement sayin a software update to fix the volume bug will be released as soon as possible. Yayyy for them! Back to waiting here...

Thanks for posting that. Sums up my feelings almost exactly.
Am I the only one wasting my time sending email after email to Verizon knowing full well that I'm wasting my time?
When Verizon changed the return policy on Nov. 15th I went ahead and bought a Razr because my old Droid is about done. Now I can only hope that Verizon releases the Nexus before Jan. 15 which is the last day I can return the Razr.
I've just been replying to each of their tweets asking where the nexus is -- I'm probably going to start emailing too because this is total nonsense. Come on, Verizon, throw us a bone or something!

It's part of the Holiday specials. All phones bought between November 15th and Christmas have until January 15th to return or exchange. I have seen a few a times, but I don't remember where on Verizon's website I saw it.
Serisouly Verizon, I'm sick and tired of waiting. I have a Droid X in bad shape, an upgrade and all I'm waiting for is a release date!!!!!!!!!!
HURRY UP VERIZON
From Verizon's return policy:
"Purchases made between November 15 and December 28, 2011 may be returned or exchanged through January 15, 2012. All other provisions of Verizon Wireless’ Return & Exchange Policy continue to apply, including Restock Fee."
Wife and i have made the choice to grab 2 Droid x's off ebay to replace our ogDroids instead of matching Nexus devices.. If this device had been released a month ago you would have had us Verizon. The X's will be fine for us for several more months.. We've decided to wait for the Galaxy S3 expected early to mid 2012 to do battle the iphone5. Hopefully Verizon will get that device once released from Samsung. If not weve decided to leave VZ and roll with another carrier to get it.. A choice that almost happened when Verizon failed to get the Galaxy S2 earlier this year. As a tech dork, i was heart broken not to have SGS2, arguably one of the nicest handhelds in the world.. Now that Christmas has inched ever closer. the Nexus money is being used for an even nicer holiday for everyone here. My twin Daughters have a pair of 7" plus samsung tabs coming for Christmas.. Highly recommended btw! DC 1.2ghz Exynos awesomness, and a 4000 ma battery, beautiful display, etc... Almost got the acer 7's, but the battery sucked and qualtity just doesn't compare.. Now im off subject, Bye bye all...
I really would like to spend some money at Verizon but I am not going to be stuck with a phone I am not going to be happy with for two years and really after looking at the razr and the rezound neither one are the right one for me.
I normally wouldn't mind the wait for a good phone, but my droid is barely useable now. I have removed pretty much every app off of it in and it just creaks on by as a crashing, crappy battery feature phone. This is not what a smartphone is supposed to be about.
I am almost to the point I may have to buy and return one of the new phones but I fear verizon might push the date of the nexus out past Jan 15th.
The worst part about this whole launch is Verizon being so tight-lipped about any status changes. Everything is being left to the imagination of those waiting for the phone. THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING. The lack of communication is astounding and hurtful to Verizon's reputation for several reasons.
1st: It allows people to think very negative theories. You've seen them everywhere now. "Verizon just wants us to buy the other phones", "Verizon does not care about its customers", etc... Why would Verizon want negativity instilled in its customers?
2nd: It allows bloggers to post incorrect launch dates. You've seen these too. Verizon Galaxy Nexus will be available on the 17th. No wait, it's the 21st. Then a (supposedly) confirmed source says it will be available on the 29th. All of these dates have come and gone, and shock of all shocks, it's not available yet. There has been a sign-up page for well over a month from Samsung, Google, and Verizon WITHOUT ONE SINGLE UPDATE. A simple status update either to those who signed up or on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus landing page could eliminate all of these rumors.
3rd: No pre-order available yet. Carriers in other countries are either selling the Galaxy Nexus or taking pre-orders. I know the LTE version is different but this still makes Verizon look very bad. It also leads to more negative theories (refer to reason #1). Taking pre-orders without a definitive date would be better than not at all.
4th: People are leaving Verizon for other carriers who have the Galaxy S2. They aren't even given a tad bit of hope the Galaxy Nexus is going to be available any time soon. I know Verizon doesn't want to lose customers.
5th: Others who don't leave will buy a RAZR/Rezound/iPhone only to return it when the Galaxy Nexus becomes available. I can only imaging hundreds of these other phones being returned the same day the Galaxy Nexus is in stores. That's going to be an administrative nightmare. Yes they charge the restocking fee... wait, another theory!
I don't see anything positive by not providing any communication. Anything they could possibly be hiding worried about affecting their reputation can't be worse than what is happening now. This silent treatment is not helping.
Tidbits wrote:Actually giving hard dates are a bad thing. In the past 2 years there have been lawsuits when a company gives a soft date with no promises. It's a catch 22. If I was in the same situation I would keep my mouth shut too. Why bother with litigation over something that isn't promised and people are over zealous. Hard to have a happy medium when customers tend to be on either side of the spectrum.
I'm sure the corporate lawyers are busy.
They should be able to give us a pre-order date. There's no rule written in stone that says a device has to be available within x number of days from the pre-order date. I understand things happen and it might not ship immediately. Just let me order it so I can establish my spot in line and stop stressing over it.
Why setup a "Sign up for more information page" if you're not going to give us any information? I signed up for more information on the Galaxy Nexus and I've gotten plenty of spam for the Droid RAZR, but nothing about the Nexus.
The silent treatment gives customers the feeling Verizon doesn't care about them.
Myself, I would prefer ANYTHING rather than the current silence. For me it doesn't need to be a date, just some acknowledgement that they are getting the phone and that they wer working on it.
Xandor wrote: Myself, I would prefer ANYTHING rather than the current silence. For me it doesn't need to be a date, just some acknowledgement that they are getting the phone and that they wer working on it.
Well... It's there in your face when it comes to that... Samsung/Google already said an LTE version, and also all their Videos has a Verizon logo on the back of them. Also Verizon has a banner which leads to a sign up page. It should be proof enough that they are getting the phone... It honestly must mean they are working on it if they haven't released it yet.
Just for example...
Verizon Website - This is their landing page for the Galaxy Nexus
Google Nexus Youtube channel - Click on the Getting started(US) video. Notice when they turn over the Galaxy Nexus it says Verizon 4GLTE on it.
So there you have it. It's coming... Just don't know when...
Add this to the latest "Where [Edited to comply with Terms of Service]is the Nexus" rumor.

This phone is starting to sound like an Urban Legend. Hey VZW hurry up with it. I only have so much time to return this Razr.

i wouldn't worry about it. it's not going to be THAT big of a deal. they missed black friday and will apparently be well into december (at least) before it's launched. average users have bought what they want by now. androids don't have major shortages and huge lines for launch (well i guess they incredile was about a 4 week wait in 2010, but that was due to a screen shortage, not demand only). they simply don't sell like an iphone at launch.
and 3 weeks of the tbolt actually being in best buy's ads. heck....best buy was taking $50 deposits for it AND advertising it, but nobody could tell you when it was coming....lol. i think we got the actual announcement less than a week prior to launch.
Patiently I wait! Thanks to all who have provided useful information in this thread, much appreciated.
My take on this is that Verizon is trying to push more Razrs & Rezounds out the door.
I just may be one of those people with the FULL intent on returning the phone for when the Nexus comes out - and hopefully thats before Jan 15th 2012 !
Even though Verizon allowing for exchanges & returns till Jan 15, wonder if there is a restock or some other fee involved.
Hope the phone is as good as I all the hype I am reading.
Wonder if we should call the Nexus the Verizon Galaxy Bionic Nexus.
Then of course CES is around the corner and wonder what new phones then will be introduced- and if those will come out before the Nexus.

Add this to the latest "Where[Edited to comply with Terms of Service]is the Nexus" rumor.
If you run out of "Time" return the RAZR, go back to your old phone for a few days, then pick up the Nexus.
For me, this whole ordeal is giving me a bad omen of what's to come when the next release of Android comes out. If VZ is going to take weeks to get it out the door, and the rest of the world has it pushed the day it is available, it will be the last CDMA phone I purchase.
I'm actually pretty darn close to just waiting for the pentaband GSM version to come out, since it's passed FCC approval, and switch carriers, just to avioid that possible scenario. Luckily my contract is up on the two phones I was going to replace with the GNEX, so I don't need to worry about any termination fees or anything.
Don't get me wrong, I've had great service with Verizon, and I'm not itching to leave Verizon, but at this point I'm just numb with all the waiting. I can give it until the 11th no problem, but if it goes much beyond that OR if the price is $299 instead of the $199 we saw that it WAS going to be offered for around black Friday, I'll likely just opt to pay the extra $250-$300 per phone and go with the pentaband GSM model. My regional GSM carrier offers $100 for porting a number, so the extra amount to be totally off-contract would only amount to $150-$200 per phone which I'd recoup in a year with the lower plan rates on their pre-paid service, they have roaming agreements with both of the national GSM carriers, and a bunch of other regional ones in other states for voice and data, so I'm covered there. A couple months ago I bought a pre-paid phone of theirs for $20 and 7 days of service just to check coverage, and it's excellent in all the states and areas that I routinely travel through, with the exception of a small area of Wisconsin, but I'm only in those areas for 20-30 minutes while passing through, and then it's only every couple months. I can easily live with that. little lapse in coverage. m(besides VZ's 3G data coverage in north Missouri is far worse.)
The way I look at it, I'll have a GNEX in my hands by the end of next week, regardless.
It'll come out when it comes out. I am with all of you who are eager for it, but bottom line, I'd rather wait for something if it means they are working out the bugs.
This reminds me of the discussions over at the Motorola Owner's Forums. There was TONS of posts asking for when the Bionic was due out, it came out, then the Razr was released inside a few weeks and then there was a "village riot" of people demanding that Moto or Vzw allow them to return the Bionic in exchange for the Razr. People were ridiculous, no one made them buy the phone and then they got upset with all the bugs and the fact that there was a new phone out.
CES is coming up in Jan. There are tons of things out there that say VZW is going to announce some things at CES. Who's to say VZW won't announce yet a diff device then? It's all speculation and hearsay until we actually see them in our hands.
In the meantime, I think people need to work more on testing and trying out export tools and methods for getting their important data off their old devices in anticipation to move to a new device of SOME sort.
Tidbits wrote:ATT isn't penta band. It only covers their frequencies from what I saw on the fcc reports and rumors. There's a reason which I won't go into detailed essay type deal. Just that CDMA isn't the issue. LTE is.
Thanks for the heads up on the AT&T version not being pentaband like the Euro version, I'll just pick up from one of the many over-seas distributors that are shipping pentaband to the U.S. in that case.
I'm hoping that it's not going to be an issue, anyway, and can just stick with VZ.
It's also available now on Amazon US site from 3 sources - in stock
(GSM unlocked version, NOT the Verizon version - don't get excited!)
Well, I could not take it any more, Droid acting up so much almost threw it across the room.
Picked up a Razr- though fully intend to return next week as Dec 9 is the new rumor.
Other wise I have 90 days for an exchange.
Sure CES is around the corner, I just do not see anything new before March.
Do hope the manufactures come out with a smaller phone then the Razr & Nexus. If I want to watch a movie - then I'll whip out my IPad 2. Phones are getting bigger but my shirt pockets are not.
With all the leaks saying that the Nexus will be out on 12/9...screenshots, pics of inventory, etc -- why doesn't verizon just get off their high horse and confirm the launch date already!
just a guess.....but the 9th is in two days and they haven't said anything, so i wouldn't count on it launching on the 9th.
Tidbits wrote:My 2 cents. It isn't ready. It's the 4G radio and nothing else. Why are the demos running primarily off a mifi? In order to access the 4GLTE network the phone requires a sim card, none of the demo devices had one. Maybe whoever is supposed to be supplying those are having problems with them and Verizon will not release the phone until each and every one has that 4g sim card installed. Maybe the big question for Google and Verizon to be asked is if they are having difficulty getting those sim cards. What would be the point of having one of the fastest devices built but be constrained to a much slower network?

In answer to the highlighted question, "CLEARLY they didn't!!!"
Tidbits wrote:Why don't they put the sim cards in? It doesn't use a super fancy simple card that no other 4G verizon phone uses. It uses the same card as the Droid Razr. Seriously I truly believe it's the source they are working on and they have to do it right for the future of LTE devices being uniformed.
And you know that how? I know that there are standard sized sim cards, and micro sim cards, so there is every possibility that the GNex uses a different one that the Razr, which is a MOTO phone not a Samsung. In fact I have seen a video on CNET that identified the slot as a "micro-sim" card slot in a hands on with the Verizon version of the phone. And even if it is the same card, Droid Life reported yesterday that many Razr users are reporting problems with "SIM Card authorization" Errors.
"Over the last couple of hours, we have received a number of reports (they are filling up the comments now too) from DROID RAZR owners who are experiencing some sort of micro SIM issue. In their notification bar, they are seeing a message that reads “SIM card authorization error” and “The SIM Card may not be authorized for LTE service. Please Power down the phone and contact Wireless Provider Customer Service.” After receiving these messages, the phone cannot no longer operate on Big Red’s 4G LTE network.
Verizon is apparently aware of the situation, but from what we can tell, may not know the cause of it. Some of our readers are being told that they simply need a new SIM card – would be unfortunate if every RAZR owner in the U.S. needed to order one though."
Would that make Verizon to rethink launching another 4GLTE device if there is an unknown issue with the sim cards?

I'm not speculating at all. Google promised a device in November, Google provided the ICS source code in November, Samsung rubber stamped the phone in November. Verizon, you let the whole month of November come and go, gave us no information. So is it out of left field to conclude that "clearly" Verizon is the hold up at this point? Google/Samsung say go, Verizon says no. That is a fact.

again.....sounds like a google issue. not sure why they would set a hard date for a device that THEY DON'T SELL.
Tidbits wrote:I think ETF should be legal. Regardless carriers pay upfront for devices that are subsidized with no guarantee something in return. They'll be out of business quickly. Who is to stop people from canceling their service after getting a phone and then picking up 2-3 devices a month? The biggest problem is people want subsidization. This is the reason why tmobile dropped their EMP plans. There wasn't enough people interested in it.
OK, you say that the ETF should be legal, then talk about subsidized phones. We were discussing the Value Plans, which don't offer subsidized phones. They are touted as a "new" version of the EMP plans, but there is a contract with an ETF now.
Tidbits wrote:They aren't being touted as their new EMP plans. People, and third party retailers are touting it as such. What that plan is actually for is to lock people onto a contract so when AT&T or some other carriers buys them out that carrier has to honor those contracts. It'll be easier to keep you grandfathered as well.
I wasn't quoting T-Mobile when I used the quotation marks in my previous post, but describing T-Mobile's behavior. It's not just about a contract with T-Mobile. If you are a current EMP customer, you can't change to the Classic Plan, even though that is a contract, as well. EMP customers can only go to the Value Plan. That behavior is a lot of things, but it does indicate that they think of the Value Plans as new versions of the EMP plan.
You did which of the above, did you go to the Classic Plan or the Value Plan? I'm not following if you are saying that you have a Galaxy Nexus on a Classic Plan.
I'm going by what I was told in a T-Mobile store. I didn't press the issue because I'm not interested in a Classic Plan, but I was told that I don't even have that choice. My only options were to keep doing what I am doing now (buy phones outright and don't change the plan), or to go to the Value Plan. I think that they knew that the EIP didn't interest me.
I switched from a EMP to a classic plan which WAS possible until they discontinued the EMP. Only way to do it was to do a EIP and after that you can switch to a classic plan after your EIP was paid off.
I am also on the T-Mobile boards and have been there for a long time(Long before they changed their layout and lost a lot of useful information). The buyout talks is what changed things around and it is my understanding T-Mobile wanted to lock people into contracts as AT&T openly stated only people on contracts their plans would be honored. This is the reason why they made the Value plans which happened a LONG time after the EMP was discontinued.
T-Mobile didn't discontinue Even More and Even More Plus until they started the Classic and Value Plans in July. People on the EMP plans don't have to change unless they want to.
I remember you from T-Mobile's forum.
I think that's fair, look at the big update with multiple bug fixes being pushed for the Bionic. Didn't the Thunderbolt need almost immediate updates shorthly after launch as well? The Razr having LTE sim authorization problems, etc.
Maybe they're just sick of scrambling to fix pieces of code with massive OTA updates so soon after launch and just want the GNex to launch more smoothly.
Tidbits, I think the tension/anger towards VZW is far more the *total* lack of communication on this issue than the delay. If the delay, yes it IS a delay, is due to any of the factors you mention, VZW obviously knows about them and could communicate such information without giving any firm launch date that could get them into "trouble".
Tidbits wrote:Pure Android phone wouldn't even have Google Services on the device. It would strictly be AOSP which has 0 Google services on it.
Google Wallet isn't included with AOSP, yet many here decry the lack of support for it. Nexus is a Google device, why would it NOT have Google services on it.
As for VZW services? Some are necessary to provide functionality and network access, You do want your GNex to be able to access Verizon's LTE services, right?
Tidbits wrote:Also GSM Nexus S doesn't have Google Wallet themselves. So what do you expect? The Nexus S 4G does. Could it mean a side deal with Sprint? No one talks about that one
This guy does.

Word is... Galaxy Nexus LTE version is getting another update don't know if it is a major or minor and it is being pushed on test models. Currently we are at 4.1.0 so seems like they are still working something out. I still have a feeling it's the LTE code being worked on.

The phone will come out when it will. It is afterall, JUST A PHONE. It is a CONVEIENCE. Hell, I'm on a 2.5 year old Blackberry that is being held together with Gaffer's Tape! It will be out when it will be out. We're all bigger than this right? Are we not more than just a phone? Are we defined by more than just a piece of glass, metal and silicon?
I don't know about you folks, but I'm gonna go have a beer, watch some TV (on a REAL TV, with a BIG SCREEN), go out and look at the stars, may go hit the hot tub and generally relax. Tomorrow will come whether this phone comes out or not.
Many of us signed up for more information from the sign-up page(s). I signed up on all 3 - Verizon, Google, and Samsung. It has been close to 2 months and not 1 email has come from any source. Most of my frustration is this total lack of communication. How would everyone feel if this phone didn't get released until March? I know that sounds drastic but most of us have expected to hear something by now. We haven't even heard the first update! Customers like to hear feedback. If for nothing else, it acknowledges them and makes them feel like their business is important.
I personally don't see why we can't pre-order and pick it up in the store as soon as it does pass final testing. I don't need a concrete date, just let me get my order in so I know I will have one waiting for me as soon as possible. Then a simple email telling me when and where my phone will be available for pick-up would make me happy. Don't most companies want happy customers?
Lately I've been feeling like the dogs at the racetrack. They use a little fake bunny that the dogs chase around the track. No matter how fast the fastest dog runs, he (and all the other dogs) will never catch that bunny. Verizon has been sticking this G-Nex out for us to chase around in circles just like those dogs chasing the bunny.
How many have thought to get a 'loaner' phone in the form of a Rezound or Droid RAZR with the intention of returning it as soon as the G-Nex is available? Maybe they're going to keep 'testing' just long enough to run past the Jan 15 deadline to return holiday phones. It's just another month (and change) down the road. What's another month?
Most of us are mature enough to understand that things happen and not everything can be released when we want. This total lack of communication though makes me feel unimportant as a Verizon customer. I know me being just 1 customer is not going to make Verizon lose sleep if I jump ship. Trying to get thousands to jump ship is not just realistic or practical. Verizon knows this, hence the reason there is no pre-order and no communication. You're going to just suck it up and keep waiting, just like they want us to.
Anyone else starting to feel more like a Verizon slave and less like a valued customer?
P.S. Now watch the phone actually drop today.
Ummm... That would be because Google Wallet does not work outside of the U.S. Having Google Wallet on a device where there are no NFC scanners that accept Google Wallet would be mighty pointless.
edit: My apologies, I see you said Nexus S, not Galaxy Nexus.
