Why Can't I Watch Games On My NFL Mobile App?

I'm trying to watch a game live on my NFL Mobile app on my S5, but I keep getting a message telling me there is a connection error and that I should check my mobile network connectivity and try again. I've never had a problem with prior versions of the app. It has always worked for me.

I was trying to watch the games over my wifi. I just turned off my wifi and I do have 4G and bars of service and am currently watching NFL Now without an issue. I just rebooted the phone and turned the wifi back on and NFL Now works fine with my wifi. For some reason, it is something with streaming the live games that is the problem.

Bone19990,

I always love NFL Mobile. It allows me to stay up to date on my games. Please remove the application from your device and redownload the application. Once this is done, please connect via wifi and test again.

A couple of things. I went to uninstall the app straight from the desktop and it won't let me.  It is only giving me the option to turn it off. Do I need to go into the settings on the phone to get rid of it? It was factory installed with the phone. Also, I won't know if it works until the weekend when there is a game on. Every other feature of the app works perfectly fine. It just won't let me watch live games that are available.

Bone19990 We appreciate your efforts. When apps are pre-installed you are not allowed to remove them. You can however force stop them. I hope you will find that helpful.

I did as you said with the NFL app tonight and hit the Force Stop button. However,  I am still having problems watching live games on the app. I went and hit the button to watch and I got the same message again that said there is a connection error and that I should check my mobile network connectivity and try again. Any other suggestions?

Thank you for keeping us up to speed, Bone19990. Let's gather a few more clues and find an answer for this concern with the application.

Have you added any new apps to the phone recently? Does the phone have the most recent software update? Are you having trouble accessing any other apps on the phone?

Now I am getting a new message whenever I try to watch the games on my mobile device. When I click on the live feed , it now says "We're sorry, but the stream is currently unavailable." I get this message no matter what game I try to watch.

So, does Verizon have any solution to this problem?? All I've ever seen on these threads is to uninstall and reinstall, which appears to have inconsistent success. After all the advertizing Verizon has done of this NFL agreement, it is really awful that you can't actually get this to work.

Also, forgot to mention that NFL Mobile came preinstalled by Verizon on my Galaxy S7, so uninstall and reinstall is not an option for troubleshooting.

Bone19990,

Watching the game on the go is a must! We understand that having trouble streaming the game is rather frustrating. Since you've already tried the great troubleshooting steps we provided above, the best option is to reach out to NFL directly. You can reach out to their support through the app by going to More > Customer Feedback > Troubleshooting > Contact Support. You can also reach them by phone at 800-635-5300.

Okay. So here is the latest. The app worked fine when I tried to watch Sunday night football last night. However, when I tried to watch Monday Night Football just now, it will not work again. I have not installed any other apps on the phone recently. Not sure why it would work for one game and then nothing else. It's kind of frustrating.

Are you using wifi or cellular data?  I was able to watch the Monday night games on my phone, over our wifi connection.  And I've read that it no longer counts against your data plan to watch over cellular - I haven't tried that yet.

If the wifi signal is not strong enough, or cellular is not strong enough, it may be slow to load and play, or stop (mine would just cut out every now and then and say the video feed was temporarily unavailable and try later).  After a few minutes it would come back on.  Sometiomes I'd have to back out of the app and restart it.

I do like being able to catch Monday night games and games broadcast over cable tv that we don't have access to at home, even if it is glitchy.  I don't feel I can complain too much since I'm not paying extra for it.  I'll enjoy what I can.

Bone19990,

We’re not going to give up on this. Let’s keep working at getting NFL mobile to work as it should. I appreciate the time you’re taking to troubleshoot with us. Are you using our 4G data network or a wifi connection? If you are using wifi, please turn that off so we can troubleshoot our own network. When you are trying to watch the game, do you have 4G on your phone & bars of service? Have you been able to turn the phone completely off & then back on to test? Since there is not a live game on right now, we can still test things by going into the app & choosing NFL Now.

Hello, I am having a similar problem right now. I'm on a Galaxy S7 and trying to watch Monday Night Football on the NFL Mobile App, and it's telling me: "there was a connection error. Please check that you have mobile network connectivity and try again."

I have mobile network connectivity, and I have tried it with my wifi both off and on.

Help??

I've been having the exact same problem with redzone on Sundays and streaming the Thursday night games as well. I have been getting the "There was a connection error. Please check that you have mobile network connectivity and try again." Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I tried everything from clearing the cache, trying only on 4G, reinstalling app and nothing seems to fix the problem.

TyServ,

I don't want you to miss a play. Help is here. I thank you for the troubleshooting steps you have already tried. What make/model are we working with? What happens when you uninstall then reinstall the application?
