I want to disable 5G on my new S22 but I don't have the option to in my settings.
Apparently this is specific to Verizon.
Why is Verizon preventing me from changing these settings? I want to disable 5G.
Can someone please provide an answer.
ekulzards, thank you for reaching out to us. We are here for your support. There is no option to disable 5G from your device. Why are you looking to disable this network from your device?

Can you say C-O-N-T-R-O-L?
It's possible the option to disable 5G was removed because Verizon is trying to offload as much Internet traffic as possible to 5G. Especially in crowded concert and venue locations, and in the city. The more they can offload to C-Band and mmWave, the less LTE And low band have to worry about.
The problem causing 5G to be slower than LTE is specific to how 5G functions in some instances. Older phones cannot aggregate multiple 5G bands together, which puts their performance in the same ballpark as a first generation LTE phone. Not all of Verizon's towers have 5G on them. Your nearest tower may be 4G only, while a further away tower is 5G capable. The phone may be trying to connect to both the further away tower via 5G, and the nearby tower via 4G, and the signal is too weak for the 5G to help. That is also a tuning problem, which Verizon can solve over time, but which can be solved by continuing to upgrade the network.
The S22 is a phone that can aggregate multiple 5G bands so, it should perform better than older phones.
Bc you constantly switch me.from a 4 bar 4g service to less than 1 bar of 5g and the service is awful and doesn't work.

Like I said, but in a very short statement...

I have been trying to figure this out since December. I called Verizon and got no where. I called Samsung and they advised me to change providers. I have been using a phone that looses charge after 1/2 hour for months because I don't know what to do. I am not an Apple fan, but they allow you to turn off 5G. I am angry with Verizon and Samsung. If I pay for a phone then how dare they disable a useful function in the phone I paid for. I live in the sticks and we do not have 5G, therefore 4G is best for me.
Agreed. If you purchase a phone then you should have all functions you paid for available. How dare they turn off my choice when the $1000+ will come out of my pocket.
This is absolutely a pain in the buns. I get 4 hrs of streaming music before I have to charge my pran new phone. I get playback errors. My phone gets hot. I hate it. S22 less than 2 was old and I'm ready to throw it in the trash. It's constantly trying to get on 5g draining Mt battery. I live in a rural area where 5g is spotty at best.
Battery is key. To assist with lengthening out the music listening, does the app used for music allow to save the tracks for offline mode?

At least at time of writing, service in Chicago is absolutely abysmal. Loading a basic mobile page is impossible anywhere south of Lincoln Park. Being able to disable 5G would make my phone functional again. Please allow ASAP.
That is not my question. My question is why has Verizon disabled a part of a phone we pay full price for. The phone has the ability to disable 5G with other providers and you have taken away a function of the phone. There is no 5G service in my area. Restore our phone's full functions and options.
I am with you. I have been complaining about this since December. I called Samsung and their solution was "change providers because others have not disabled the ability to turn it off". I sent the S22 back and am dealing with an old phone that doesn't keep charge but I can have signal using 4G. Verizon has taken a function away from phones their customers pay full price for while at the same time providing poor connection to people in areas without 5G. Everyone pays the same regardless of connectivity. I bet someone will file a law suit at some point over this. It will be interesting to see what happens. Verizon needs to stop with the control and restore the function.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, ragman922. We sent you a Private Note, so we can continue working on this situation.

Hi there. You should be able to turn off the automatic switch so you can choose. Verizon cannot disable this part of your phone.

It's Verizon and looks like they tell Samsung how to set up our phones
Verizon needs to fix this or I will have to find another carrier. Ridiculous
Yup and you are paying for the phone they have disabled a function on. They don't tell you they have disabled certain phone functions when you purchase the phone.
Why does device health check tell us to disable 5G, if Verizon does not allow the option too?!
Hello, Bender42!I will send you a private message to follow up your concern. >Elias
@Bender42
Ask Verizon that question then go and ask Samsung the exact same question and come back to Verizon and give them the correct answer you received from Samsung that Verizon lied about when you received Verizon's answer thefirst time.

I have a 5G tower near me acting up and my phone wont work.
When the phone auto switches to 4G, it works great.
Tech support says their should be a way to turn 5G off, but the option is gone from my phone.
A ticket has been issued for the tower, but my phone is a paperweight for 8 hrs a day.
The Tmobile S9+ phone i also have for kids, works great on 4G same location.

@ Same reason you're not able to on Samsung Galaxy S21 Series.
Good afternoon. Thanks for reaching out. Are you looking for assitance today, or generally posting? *Justin
Everyone is asking for assistance, "Justin with Verizon support."
5G hangs like a bad Wi-Fi that won't let go even though it can't send or receive any packets.
It is clearly obvious that the ability to turn off/on 5G is what everyone wants. When Wi-Fi hangs, you turn it off and voila, data! If we could turn off 5G, we'd be happy. There's no special fix, no troubleshooting, no private messages required, just restore the ability to manually turn off 5G. Point blank. End of discussion. Thanks.
We would be happy to assist you with your concern. Please private message us for further assistance. *Mabell
I have just exchanged our Samsung S10's for S22's, and seem to be encountering the precise same problem which has been outlined in multiple posts here, i.e. 4G LTE used to be quite sufficient for data, but with 5G, it has become almost impossible to use the phones to load anything.
There have been conflicting posts here, some referencing the Verizon/Samsung devices being unable to have 5G turned off, and others referencing settings changes which would allow for preferential access to LTE 4G data.
Could someone please clarify which is the situation at hand, which of the two opinions is correct?
Verizon has removed the option of choice from any Galaxy 21 and above. Several of us have called Samsung and their solution is to change providers, because not all providers have taken customers choices and rights away. I sent my S22 back and continue to use my busted S10 to keep my freedom of choice.
The only assistance I want is for Verizon to allow paying customers to reclaim their freedom of choice. They have removed a function from phones they received money for. We don't have 5G in my area and I should have the choice of turning off 5G. I really believe this is unethical and possibly criminal on Verizon's part. #turnoff5g #5gchoice #5G

We shouldn't have to do this, but I found a work around app. It's called Samsung band selection and it is in the GPlay store. It basically brings up a whole menu that we are missing and allows the 4G setting.
I'm sure you guys already know of this, but in case you didn't I wanted to throw it out there because it is helped me and I'm currently using it.
