Good morning, upon completing the OTA update to Android Marshmallow a last evening, my WiFi connection is not stable. It connects to the network, but anytime I go to a Web page I get dns probe and connection errors. Anytime I switch back to 4G the issues go away until back on WiFi. I have tried turning off and back on and forgetting/reconnecting to the network but the problem persists

After resetting network settings, I continued to have the issues only while bluetooth was on. 2 weeks ago I received an update that fixed all of these errors.
Thank you!

Good morning, thanks so much for reaching out Jpheim589! Let’s take a closer look into this issue. What type of device (make/model) are you using? Have you attempted to power off the router and back on? Have you noticed the issue with a single WiFi connection or all WiFi connections? Looking forward to hearing back, thanks in advance.

I am using a Galaxy Note 5. I am using a Verizon fios router and have tried
turning it off and back on again. Other devices are not having this issue.
I do not have other WiFi networks to test on at this time. WiFi worked fine
prior to updating to Android Marshmallow last night.

I found a solution.
1) Identify applications that are running in the background, write these down on paper.
2) Restart the phone in safe mode
3) Delete the least used / needed application on the list
4) Restart phone and test wifi
5) If that didn't fix it, note the program so you can reinstall at a later date.
6) Repeat steps 2 - 6
I did this and had to delete 2 apps that I didn't need before I resolved the problem

My wifi is now working perfectly.

I am having the same Issue. I can't connect to any wifi except for my Netgear routers 5G band. This is happening at local coffee shops, my home, and my work. so the only place I can connect to Wifi is at my house using 5G. This has to be the software issue because I have never had issues connecting to wifi anywhere.

This is an issue for me whenever connecting to a 2.4ghz band wifi signal. I can confirm it on two different note 5 phones. It is only and issue after the Marshmallow update. It can be resolved by turning off bluetooth, however this eliminates all functionality for me with my fitness band and bluetooth headphones. It isn't something I should have to do in the first place. Verizon Admin Verizon Wireless Customer Support Verizon Wireless Admin there are multiple threads relating to this issue on here. Are you looking into this?

Doesn't work for everyone. Tried this on two note 5. Both exhibit the same behavior.

I've been experiencing the same issue - WiFi works fine as long as bluetooth is off. Once I turn bluetooth on WiFi becomes useless.
Note 5 on FIOS network.

I've ended up with the same issue. I'm glad I found this post. Turning off Bluetooth everything works fine. With bluetooth, regardless of what WiFi network I'm connected to, my WiFi works for about 10 - 20 seconds and then just stops.

This marshmallow disaster has wrought numerous issues on Note 5's where there were none. Now, I have a boatload of issues from CONSTANT restarts, to unstable Verizon messaging app, to constant freezing/lag, to constantly being asked to input a pin (when I normally would use fingerprints), etc. I've resorted to turning my device off until an OTA fix is released. I'm not going to ruin my battery or gamble with my phone's hardware anymore.
I'm stunned between Verizon, Google, and SAMSUNG not one of these major organizations has issued a statement about this bungled nightmare on their Flagship device on the biggest network in the States?!?!!?!?!
Perhaps the three of these organizations enjoy tempting class action lawsuits.

"This marshmallow disaster has wrought numerous issues on Note 5's where there were none. "
^This here times 100. I had a perfectly good phone and service with the Note 5 until this horrible marshmallow update. Cant stream a single song longer than 20 or 30 seconds, cant download files, internet drops constantly, tons of other errors the day the update was installed.. This is ridiculous to take a perfectly functioning device and F it all up forcing the customer to spend hours looking for workarounds or trying to do resets.
Going to look into that Sprint offer to buy out your contract.

I've been with Verizon since theyou were Alltel...and I am disappointed in this update. It is causing a lot of apps to lag and I can't use wifi on my phone and expect anything else in my house to work. I messaged Verizon on their Facebook page and received a response that it is my modem. I have to do it...hahahahaha. Um, no. I reset my modem multiple times and my phone. Now I'm going to try the helpful tips from this thread. It is sad that it's the users that help the most while Verizon nor Samsung show any accountability.
