Why can't I receive text messages after switching from an iPhone?

I just switched from an iPhone to the galaxy s5. I turned off my imessages before deactivating my phone but I am still not receiving any text messages. I can send them but not receive. Anyone know how to fix this ?

We want you to receive all of your messages at all times. Sorry to hear that you have been having troubles while connected to your new phone. It is good that you turned your iMessage off before activating the new phone. You may also need to un-register your apple id with Apple for that device. Here are the steps: http://bit.ly/1pGck8T
