Why does Samsung S7 have such POOR video quality while sending via messaging apps

When sending short videos (3-4 seconds) via messages or messages+, the quality is so bad my recipients cannot even tell what I sent them. Is there a fix for this? My understanding is that this is a network issue not a Samsung issue. My last phone was a Samsung S4 and I did not have this issue.

MMS messages have always had a size limit. It just wasn't as noticeable because years ago the phones didn't create such high-quality videos. Wouldn't it be better to send the video over email or upload to Facebook or YouTube?

TJG1214, we want to make sure that your friends and family are able to see the video you send with clarity. Have you always had that issue with the Galaxy S7 or did it just start recently? Are these video being captured by your camera on the phone or through a 3rd party application? Which Messaging application are you using to sent the Videos? Please keep us posted.

Yes, I have always had the issue with the Galaxy S7. The videos are captured by the camera on the phone, not a 3rd party app. I have used both the default messaging app and messaging+ to send videos and have the same results on both - poor quality which can barely be seen by the recipient.

Verizon (and probably other carriers too) limit size of MMS messages, therefor degrading quality of pics and videos. You can try downloading a different messaging app and changing the "carrier size limit" to see if you can send the larger size video in it's original quality.

Is there no solution to this issue? Because it's so awful, you can't hardly tell what's going on when you send the video, even to other galaxy s7. Not using any other app, third party or anything, just the camera that came with the phoneand regular text messaging. This is so upsetting, seriously thinking of returning the phone!!!

I too have this problem and I agree with one of the other replies where the MMS reduces quality to meet size limitations or restrictions. I ended up using OneDrive through Microsoft and sharing my video that way otherwise you will continue to get the size limitations. Good cloud services to use - OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Photos, etc.

I am having the same issue too. I have been trying to send videos using other methods, such as link sharing, recording from text message, even to updating the software. Using these methods did not change a thing. I do not plan on downloading an app, just so I can send better quality to other Android and Iphone users. I would like to be able to send videos with the option that has been offer for Samsung s7 edge. It's really dissapointing when buying a phone that cost so much that cannot send the same quality videos to others. Please do something about this Verzion!

Same issue ONLY with the S7 AND it is known to be a carrier issue, NOT a device issue. The lower grade carriers have fixed this, why hasn't Verizon????????? This is not an issue of size of video and better quality phones. This is a carrier issue.

MMS does have an overall technological size limit, but most carriers do set their own network limits smaller than Verizon's at 1.2mb.

If your MMS files are being compressed when sending down to 1.2mb, and being sent to a AT&T or T-Mobile network which both set their limits lower at 1.0mb the receiving carrier will recompress the files to lower the quality even more. If the receiver has an older device or one with lower quality feature specifications or settings then the file would be reduced in quality even further.

Using applications that are designed for larger file sharing really is the best current option. Or just buy all your contacts newer phones with great video quality and move all the lines to Sprint as they have the highest compression setting limits (5mp depending on the network area)
