Why does Verizon have to make everything so difficult?

When my Razr died I went into the store liked the looks of the Samsung S4, but was concerned about the memory (since the OS uses almost 8Gb). I was pushing the 16GB Razr and wanted the 32GB version of the G4, I even understood the fact that I might have to wait for the thing to be shipped overnight.
Sales rep walked out sold me a phone for $249.99 (The online price of the 32GB), a case, and some screen protectors. After the first one being non-functional. I started loading everything on the new one and found that it was in fact a 16GB not the 32. I figured I was in my 14 days and that I could just exchange it. Well I just got back from the store today and after trying for days to set-up the transfer I was told that I was going to have to pay an
additional $30 upgrade charge, $30 restocking fee, $20 for overnight shipping. and would probably be without my phone for two days. And that I'd have to do it tomorrow on the 14th day. (even though I had the box, the headphones, charge cable, booklet etc. with me). And that after already having paid the $30 upgrade fee the first time for the wrong S4. So that is $110 in fees and charges $80 I would never have had to pay if they had given me the correct phone to begin with!
Plus to get the phone working and tested and attempted replacement I have had to drive in 5 times, driven over 100 miles, and spent 7 hours in the store in the last two weeks. The manager offered to sell me a 32 Gb card for $35 (still more expensive that Best Buy). It just isn't the memory, I want to be able to use it for programs. and yes after the 456 update, we can run most programs from the SD card. Google has not officially supported that since Gingerbread that is a vender patch. And my specific app has some issues still trying to run from SD.
I've been on Verizon for 13 years when they bought Arch (who I had at the time). I even survived two years with the Blackberry Storm (and heard about it daily from my wife, lol). This is the way they treat a loyal customer. I am very thinking this is my last Verizon phone.
