Why does my Samsung Galaxy S6 constantly overheat?

I have had issues with this phone from day 1. The phone is constantly over heating, not just when charging and sometimes when it isnt even in use. I don't mean just a little bit of overheating, my phone has physically burned me leaving a mark and gets so hot that it will not function. I have to constantly restart the phone only solving the issue for less than an hour. Since I have got the phone every charger, including the one it came with and other brand name and verizon supplied chargers, has completely stopped working almost as if the phone isn't recognizing the charger. I am buying a new charger every week. My phone has to literally be on the charger all day because even after fully charging it, it will lose 1% of battery life about every minute. This is even while it is NOT in use. I had issues with our other phone (the earphone adapter was not working) and opened an insurance claim for the phone to be replaced by another with the earphone adapter completely missing. So I am quite a bit apprehensive about opening another claim, especially because they will not send me a new phone but a refurbished one which in my experience has not gone over too well. I bought the phone brand new a year ago and I am still making payments on it through the edge program. Does anyone have similar issues? What would you suggest I do?
I have been fighting with this phone for a year simply due to the fact that I had an issue with our other Samsung only to be sent a phone in worse condition and told I would be charged for another replacement.

You should have done something right away. You had a one year warranty from Samsung.
You can try factory resetting the phone, that might fix the over heating.
You're on your own to buy a replacement if you don't have insurance or an upgrade.
