Why does my friend keep getting duplicate texts from me?

I'm on a Galaxy S6 Edge, and my friend reports that my texts to him come through 2, 3, and sometimes even 4 times. This happened with my old phone (Galaxy S3) as well. I'm using the native texting app; he's on iOS/iMessage. No one else has told me that they are getting duplicate messages. I've tried deleting his contact as well as deleting our text message history. Any assistance would be appreciated.

How long exactly has this been occurring? Has there been any changes to your device recently? Does your friend report duplicate messages from any other contacts?

It's been occurring for about 8 months, actually. No explicit changes to the device, but since it has been occurring for so long, apps and OS would get updated. As I mentioned, this happened on my old phone (Galaxy S3) and again now (Galaxy S6 Edge).

He doesn't report duplicate messages from other contacts. I'm special.

I know I wouldn't want to be special in that way! I'm confident we can figure this out. Has your friend tried deleting and readding your contact on his device? Do you know if he has everything up to date?
